4 Adão e Eva 9

1Depois dele seu filho Acazias reinou 29 anos e matou os assassinos de seu pai; mas não matou os filhos deles, cumprindo a lei de Moisés: “Não matareis os filhos pelos pecados de seus pais.”

1After him his son Araazias reigned 29 years, and put to death those who had killed his father; yet he did not put to death their children, so as to fulfil the law of Moses, that says, "Ye shall not put to death children for the sins of their fathers."

2Amazias morreu; depois dele Uzias reinou 52 anos e exerceu o juízo, a justiça e o que era reto diante de Deus.

2Then Amazias died, and after him Ozia reigned 52 years, and in his reign exercised justice and judgment, and right before God.

3Mas cometeu uma maldade: sem a devida ordem, ofereceu a Deus sacrifícios e oblações que não lhe competiam; por isso morreu.

3Yet did he do one wicked act, and that was that without due orders he offered sacrifices unto God, and oblations that did not become him, so he died.

4Depois dele, seu filho Jônatas reinou 16 anos; durante seu reinado, porém, fez o mal diante de Deus, irritou seu Criador, abandonou Seus mandamentos e Sua lei, queimou incenso aos ídolos e lhes ofereceu sacrifícios.

4After him Yonathan his son, reigned 16 years, yet during his reign, he did evil before God, and angered his Creator, and forsook His commandment and His law; and burnt incense to idols, and sacrificed unto them.

5Por isso Deus o entregou à morte nas mãos de Caran, rei de Elmosal.

5For this reason did God deliver him to death, into the hands of Caran, king of Elmosal.

6Quando o rei de Elmosal o levou [cativo], ele [Jônatas] tomou todos os utensílios que encontrou na casa de Deus, enviou-os ao grande rei de Elmosal e nada deixou na casa de Deus.

6And when the king of Elmosal led him away [captive], he [Yonathan] took all the vessels he found in the house of God, and sent them all to the great king of Elmosal; and left nothing in the house of God.

7Nos dias desse rei, os filhos de Israel foram levados ao cativeiro pela primeira vez.

7In the days of this king, did the children of Israel, go the first time into captivity.

8Ele os levou para seu próprio país, e a terra de Israel ficou deserta.

8He removed them to his own country, and the land of Israel remained bare.

9Então o rei de Elmosal enviou pessoas para habitar e cultivar a terra no lugar dos filhos de Israel que a haviam deixado.

9Then the king of Elmosal, sent people to dwell in the land and to till it, instead of the children of Israel who had left it.

10Quando essas pessoas foram morar naquela terra, feras [selvagens] as dilaceraram e devoraram, prevalecendo contra elas por todos os confins do país.

10Yet when those people came to dwell in that land, [wild] beasts rent them asunder and devoured them, and prevailed against them in all the borders of the land.

11Então enviaram mensagem ao rei em sua própria língua e pediram-lhe que lhes mandasse o sacerdote Urias para lhes dar a lei, a fim de que as feras já não se aproximassem para feri-los.

11Then they sent word to the king in their. own tongue, and asked him to send them Urias the priest, to give them the law, so that wild beasts should no longer come near them, and hurt them.

12Ouvindo isso, o rei lhes enviou o sacerdote Urias e ordenou-lhe que lhes desse uma lei para guardarem, a fim de que as feras não os ferissem.

12When the king heard this he sent them Urias the priest, and commanded him to give them a law, for them to keep, so that the wild beasts hurt them not.

13O sacerdote Urias veio e fez como o rei lhe ordenara: deu ao povo a lei dos judeus; eles a tinham em mãos, recitavam-na e por ela se governavam.

13Urias the priest came, and did as the king had commanded him, and he gave the people the law of the Jews; it was in their hands, they recited it and ruled themselves after it.

14Esses eram os Samar, que o rei de quem acabamos de falar enviara para cultivar a terra de Israel.

14And those were the Samar; whom the king, of whom we have just spoken, had sent to till the land of Israel.

15Jônatas morreu; depois dele reinou seu filho Akaz, que fez o bem diante de Deus e então morreu.

15Then Yunathan died, and after him reigned Akaz his son, who did well before God, and then died.

16Depois dele reinou seu filho Ezequias, que tinha 25 anos; reinou 22 anos, fez o bem, o juízo, a equidade e a justiça, agradou ao Senhor, guardou Sua lei e Seus mandamentos, derrubou os ídolos e destruiu suas casas.

16After him reigned his son Hezkias, when he was 25 years old; and he reigned 22 years; and did good, and judgment, equity and justice; and he pleased the Lord; he kept His law and His commandments; he brake down the idols, and destroyed their houses.

17No quarto ano de seu reinado veio Senaqueribe, rei de Assarium, levou cativos todos os que restavam e os enviou à Babilônia.

17Yet in the fourth year of his reign, came Sanakreb king of Assarium, and took away captive all that were left and sent them to Babylon.

18Ezequias, porém, serviu ao Senhor Deus e cumpriu Sua lei, até adoecer, enfraquecer muito e sofrer grande aflição pela doença; seu coração padecia e ele disse consigo: “Ai de mim! Morrerei sem um filho que reine depois de mim.”

18Yet Hezkias served the Lord God, and fulfilled His law, until he fell sick and became very weak, and was in great distress by reason of his sickness; his heart suffered, and he said to himself, "Woe is me! I shall die without a son to reign after me."

19Durante a doença, ele chorou diante de Deus e disse: “Ai de mim, Senhor! Eis que morro sem um filho;

19And in his sickness he wept before God and said, "Woe is me, O Lord! Behold, I die without a son;

20e a promessa que fizeste a Davi falhará em mim, e o reino sairá da casa de Davi.”

20and behold the promise Thou madest unto David, shall fail in me; and the kingdom shall pass from the house of David."

21Então Deus olhou para a tristeza de seu coração e para sua doença, que era grave.

21Then God looked upon his sorrow of heart, and upon his sickness, for his sickness was sore.

22Deus teve compaixão dele e lhe acrescentou 15 anos aos dias que lhe restavam; e ele se recuperou da doença.

22And God had pity on him and gave him 15 years over and above the rest of his days; and he recovered from his sickness.

23Três anos depois de se recuperar, quando Deus o levantara de sua doença, Ezequias gerou Manassés.

23Then three years after he had recovered, and God had raised him from his sickness, Hezekias begat Manasseh.

24E morreu muito alegre por lhe ter nascido um filho que se assentaria em seu trono.

24And he died, rejoicing greatly at having a son born unto him, to sit upon his throne.
