4 Adão e Eva 4

1Depois Abraão ordenou a um de seus servos que encontrasse mulher para seu filho Isaque e o fez jurar que o casaria somente com uma mulher de sua própria parentela.

1After this, Abraham ordered one of his servants to find a wife for his son Isaac; and adjured his servant to marry Isaac only to a wife of his own kindred.

2Abraão repousou aos 175 anos, e seus filhos Isaque e Ismael o sepultaram.

2And Abraham entered into rest when he was 175 years old; and Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him.

3Isaque casou-se aos 40 anos; seus filhos Esaú e Jacó nasceram quando ele tinha cerca de 60 anos.

3Then Isaac married when he was 40 years old; and Esau and Jacob his sons were born unto him when he was about 60 years of age.

4Deus abençoou Isaque grandemente.

4And God blessed Isaac greatly.

5Depois Jacó foi à terra de Harã, a Labão, irmão de sua mãe, e casou-se com suas duas filhas, Lia e Raquel.

5Then after this Jacob went to the land of Haran, to Laban, his mother's brother, and married his two daughters Leah and Rachel.

6De Lia teve Rúben, Simeão, Levi, Judá, Issacar e Zebulom; de Raquel teve José e Benjamim.

6He had by Leah, Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun; and by Rachel he had Joseph and Benjamin.

7De Zilpa, serva de Lia, teve Gade e Aser; de Bila, serva de Raquel, teve Dã e Naftali.

7Then he had also by Zilpah, Leah's maid-servant, Gad and Aser; and by Bilhah, Rachel's maid-servant, he had Dan and Naphtali.

8Cerca de 20 anos após Jacó voltar de Harã, antes da morte de seu pai Isaque, José foi vendido por seus irmãos, que tinham ciúme dele.

8And about 20 years after Jacob's return from the land of Haran, before his father Isaac died, Joseph was sold by his brothers, because they were jealous of him.

9Quando Isaque morreu, seus filhos Esaú e Jacó vieram, embalsamaram seu corpo e o depositaram no sepulcro de seu pai.

9Yet when Isaac died, his two sons Esau and Jacob went to him, embalmed his dead body, and laid him in the sepulchre of his father.

10Seis anos após a morte de Isaque, Rebeca morreu, e a sepultaram junto de Sara, mulher de Abraão.

10Then six years after the death of Isaac, Rebecca died; and they buried her by Sarah, Abraham's wife.

11Depois, quando Lia, mulher de Jacó, morreu, sepultaram-na ao lado delas.

11And when, after that Leah, Jacob's wife died, they buried her by the side of them.

12Depois Judá tomou por mulher Habwadiya, nome que significa “dona de casa”; na lei, porém, ela se chama Sewa.

12Then after this Judah took to himself a wife whose name was Habwadiya, that means “house-wife”; but in the law her name is Sewa.

13Ela vinha de uma família cananeia, o que muito afligiu o coração de Jacó; ele disse a seu filho Judá, que se casara com ela: “O Deus de Abraão e Isaque não permitirá que a descendência desta mulher cananeia se misture com a minha.”

13She was of a Canaanitish family, and Jacob's heart suffered much on that account; and he said to Judah his son who had married that wife, "The God of Abraham and of Isaac will not allow the seed of this Canaanitish woman to mingle with my seed."

14Alguns dias depois, Tamar deu a Judá três filhos, chamados Er, Onã e Selá.

14Yet some days after this, Sewa bare three sons unto Judah, whose names were Er, Onan, and Selah.

15Quando Er cresceu, Judá casou seu primogênito com uma mulher chamada Tamar, filha de Kadesh Levi.

15And when Er was grown up, Judah married him, his first-born son, unto a woman named Tamar, daughter of Kadesh Levi.

16Er viveu com ela por longo tempo, mas se conduziu à maneira dos homens de Sodoma e Gomorra; Deus viu suas más ações e o matou.

16And Er continued with her a long time, and behaved after the manner of the men of Sodom and Gomorrah. But God looked down upon his evil deeds and killed him.

17Então Judá casou seu filho Onã com Tamar e disse: “Ele suscitará descendência para seu irmão.”

17Then Judah married his son Onan to Tamar, saying, "He shall raise seed unto his brother."

18Deus também o matou por suas más ações, em razão da maldição de Jacó: “Que nenhuma descendência cananeia se misture com a sua.”

18Yet him also did God kill because of his evil deeds; on account of Jacob's curse, "That no Canaanitish seed should mingle with his own."

19Assim Deus não permitiu que aquela descendência se misturasse com a de Jacó, o justo.

19So God would not let any of it mingle with that of Jacob the righteous.

20Por isso Tamar foi a Judá, seu sogro, que se uniu a ela sem saber que era mulher de seu filho; ela lhe deu os gêmeos Perez e Zera.

20Therefore did Tamar go to Judah her father-in-law, who had intercourse with her, not knowing she was his son's wife; and she bare unto him twins, Pharez and Zarah.
