4 Adão e Eva 2

1Depois houve fome na terra da Palestina; Abraão desceu ao Egito com sua mulher Sara, que era muito formosa.

1After this there was a famine in the land of Palestine; and Abraham went down into the land of Egypt, and Sarah his wife was with him, and she was greatly beautiful.

2Abraão lhe disse: “Não digas: Sou mulher de Abraão, para que não me matem e te tirem de mim. Dize, porém: Sou irmã dele.”

2So Abraham said to her, "Say not, I am Abraham's wife, lest they kill me, and take thee from me. Yet say, I am his sister."

3Quando chegaram ao Egito, alguns homens falaram a Faraó, rei do Egito: “Eis que veio para cá um homem acompanhado de sua bela irmã.”

3Then when they came into the land of Egypt, men spake to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and said to him, "Behold a man has come hither; and with him is his beautiful sister."

4Então Faraó mandou tirá-la de Abraão, que ficou chorando.

4Then Pharaoh sent and took her from Abraham, who remained weeping.

5Mas Deus, em Sua misericórdia, enviou um anjo que feriu Faraó e lhe disse: “Devolve a Abraão sua mulher, para que Deus não te mate.”

5Yet God in His mercy sent an angel who smote Pharaoh, and said to him, "Send back to Abraham his wife, lest God kill thee."

6Pela manhã, Faraó chamou Abraão e lhe disse: “Perdoa-me.”

6Then in the morning, Pharaoh called Abraham, and said unto him, "Forgive me."

7Então lhe devolveu sua mulher Sara; deu a Sara Agar, a egípcia, e lhe deu muitos presentes.

7He then gave him his wife Sarah; and gave to Sarah, Hagar the Egyptian, and gave her many presents.

8Depois Abraão tomou Sara, sua mulher, com Agar, sua serva, e voltou à Palestina.

8After this Abraham took Sarah his wife, with Hagar her maid-servant, and returned to Palestine.

9Depois Abraão tomou Agar por mulher; ela lhe deu Ismael quando ele tinha 87 anos.

9And after that, Abraham took to himself Hagar to wife, who bare him Ishmael, when Abraham was 87 years old.

10Ao dizer “Sara é minha irmã”, Abraão não mentiu, pois seu pai Terá tomara duas mulheres; uma delas se chamava Tona, mãe de Abraão, que morreu pouco depois de ele nascer.

10Yet in that Abraham said, “Sarah is my sister,” he did not lie; inasmuch as Terah, his father, married two wives; one of which was called Tona, the mother of Abraham, who died shortly after he was born.

11Então Terá tomou outra mulher, chamada Tahdif, que lhe deu Sara, com quem Abraão se casou; por isso ele disse: “Ela é minha irmã” — por parte de pai, mas não de mãe.

11Then Terah married again another wife whose name was Tahdif, who bare him Sarah, whom Abraham married, and who, for that reason, said, “She is my sister” — on my father's side, but not on my mother's.

12Depois, quando Abraão habitava em tendas, o Senhor veio a ele com Seus anjos e lhe deu um sinal do nascimento de seu filho Isaque, que lhe nasceu aos 100 anos. O Senhor também lhe mostrou muitos mistérios.

12After this, when Abraham was dwelling in tents, the Lord came to him with angels of His, and gave him a sign of the birth of his son Isaac, who was born to him when he was 100 years old. The Lord showed him also many mysteries.

13Alguns dias depois, quando Isaque tinha 14 anos, Deus disse a Abraão: “Oferece-me teu filho Isaque em oblação.”

13Then days after this, God said to Abraham, when Isaac was 14 years old, "Offer unto me thy son Isaac, in oblation."

14Abraão se fortaleceu, tomou coragem para essa prova e levou seu filho para oferecê-lo a Deus em oblação.

14Then Abraham fortified himself and took courage for this trial; and brought his son to offer him in oblation to God.

15Deus, porém, resgatou Isaque com um cordeiro preso a um arbusto; o lugar desse arbusto é o mesmo em que foi plantada a árvore da Cruz, e o cordeiro que salvou Isaque da morte era figura do Cordeiro de Deus que a todos nós salvou da morte.

15Yet God redeemed Isaac with a lamb that was tied to a bush, and the bush to which the lamb was tied, is the very place where the tree of the Cross was planted, and the lamb that saved Isaac from death, was a figure of the Lamb of God who saved us all from death.

16Aquela montanha, onde o rei Davi viu um anjo de pé com uma afiada espada de fogo, como se fosse ferir Jerusalém, é também o lugar onde Abraão viu, pelo olhar do Espírito Santo, o Filho de Deus nela suspenso.

16That mountain also, on which king David saw an angel standing with a sharp sword of fire, as if going to smite Jerusalem with it — is the place where Abraham saw with the eye of the Holy Spirit, the Son of God, hanging on it.

17Por isso o Senhor disse aos judeus: “Abraão, vosso pai, alegrou-se e desejou ver o meu dia; ele o viu e se regozijou.”

17For this reason did the Lord say to the Jews, "Abraham, your father, rejoiced and longed to see my day, and he did see it, and was glad."

18Este é também o lugar onde, como disse o bem-aventurado Paulo, “Por amor de Jesus Cristo, meu Senhor, sou ministro da circuncisão”, Cristo foi circuncidado ao oitavo dia.

18Again, this is the place, as the blessed Paul said, "For the sake of Jesus Christ my Lord am I minister of the circumcision." — where Christ was circumcised on the 8th day.

19Esse é também o lugar onde o patriarca Abraão ofereceu a Deus uma oblação.

19That is also the place where the patriarch Abraham offered up an oblation to God.

20E, assim como nos dias de Moisés ofereciam um cordeiro pelos pecados do povo para purificá-lo, também o Cordeiro de Deus ofereceu a Si mesmo em oblação por nós para nos libertar de nossos pecados.

20And again, as it was in the days of Moses, when they offered up a lamb for the sins of the people, to cleanse them from their sins — so also did the Lamb of God offer up Himself in oblation for us, to set us free from our sins.
