4 Adão e Eva 12

1Da deportação para a Babilônia, quando levaram a mãe de Daniel e ela o deu à luz, até o segundo ano de Ciro, o persa, passaram-se 70 anos em que os filhos de Israel ficaram cativos, segundo a profecia do santo profeta Jeremias.

1From the first transportation to Babylon, when they carried away Daniel's mother, and she brought him forth, unto the second year of Cyrus the Persian, are 70 years, during which the children of Israel were captive, according to the prophecy of holy Jeremiah the prophet.

2Os filhos de Israel começaram a construir a Casa de Deus nos dias de Zorobabel, de Josias, filho de Zadok, e de Esdras, o escriba.

2And the children of Israel began to build the House of God, in the days of Zerubbabel, of Josiah the son of Zadok, and of Ezra the scribe.

3Passaram 46 anos construindo-a até concluí-la, como está escrito no santo Evangelho: foram 46 anos de construção.

3And they were 46 years building it, until it was finished, as it is written in the holy Gospel — that they were 46 years building it.

4Além disso, os escribas organizaram tabelas genealógicas e registraram os nomes dos homens; mas não puderam registrar os das mulheres, pois não os conheciam, salvo pouquíssimos.

4Moreover, scribes arranged tables of genealogy, and recorded the names of the men; yet they could not record the names of the women because they knew them not, except very few.

5Mas eu, meus irmãos, investiguei muito e procurei por longo tempo nos livros dos gregos e dos antigos hebreus, onde encontrei escritos os nomes das mulheres.

5Yet, O my brethren, I have watched much, and I have searched long in the books of the Greeks and of the ancient Hebrews, and I have found the name of the women written in them.

6Pois descobri que, ao voltarem os filhos de Israel da Babilônia, Zorobabel gerou Abiud de Maukab, filha de Esdras, o escriba; Abiud tomou por mulher Tsamita, filha do sumo sacerdote Zadok, e ela deu à luz Eliakim.

6For I found that when the children of Israel came from Babylon, Zerubbabel begat Abiud of Maukab the daughter of Ezra the scribe; and Abiud took to wife Tsamita the daughter of Zadok the high priest, and she bare Eliakim.

7Eliakim casou-se com Hasbia, filha de Arã, e ela deu à luz Azar.

7And Eliakim married Hasbia, the daughter of Aram, and brought forth Azar.

8Azar gerou Zadok de Lebaida. Zadok tomou por mulher Kalem, filha de Waikam, que deu à luz Akim.

8And Azar begat Zadok of Lebaida. And Zadok took to wife Kalem, the daughter of Waikam, who gave birth to Akim.

9Akim casou-se com Asbaidi, que deu à luz Eliud. Eliud casou-se com Awad, filha de Gasulius, que deu à luz Azar.

9And Akim married Asbaidi, who gave birth to Eliud. And Eliud married Awad, the daughter of Gasulius, who gave birth to Azar.

10Azar casou-se com Hayat, filha de Walha, que deu à luz Mattan; e Mattan casou-se com Sabartyal, filha de Phulius, que deu à luz os gêmeos Jacó e Joachim.

10And Azar married Hayat, daughter of Walha, who brought forth Mattan; and Mattan married Sabartyal the daughter of Phulius, who brought forth twins, namely, Jacob and Joachim.

11Jacó casou-se com Gadat, filha de Eleazar, que deu à luz José, o noivo de Maria. Joachim, irmão de Jacó, casou-se com Hannah, filha de Makah; ela deu à luz a pura Virgem Maria, da qual nasceu Cristo. Os antigos escribas não conseguiam estabelecer a linhagem da Virgem, de seu pai ou de sua família; por isso os judeus crucificaram Cristo, insultaram-No, escarneceram Dele e Lhe disseram: “Mostra-nos os pais de Maria, a Virgem, seu povo e sua genealogia.”

11And Jacob married Gadat, the daughter of Eleazar, who gave birth to Joseph the betrothed of Mary. And Joachim, the brother of Jacob, married Hannah the daughter of Makah; and she brought forth the pure Virgin Mary; and of her was born Christ. The former scribes could not find a good lineage for the Virgin and her father or kindred; therefore the Jews crucified Christ, taunted and mocked Him, and said to Him, “Show us the fathers of Mary the Virgin and her people, and what is her genealogy.”

12Assim blasfemaram contra ela e contra Cristo; mas doravante se fechará a boca desses judeus incrédulos, e saberão que Maria descende do rei Davi e da linhagem do patriarca Abraão.

12Therefore did they blaspheme her and Christ, yet henceforth shall the mouth of those unbelieving Jews be closed; and they shall know that Mary is of the seed of David the king, and of that of the line of the patriarch Abraham.

13Além disso, os judeus incrédulos não tinham registros que os guiassem corretamente, nem sabiam como corriam as linhas de parentesco no princípio, pois a lei e os profetas lhes foram queimados três vezes [por completo].

13Moreover, the unbelieving Jews had no registers to guide them aright, neither did they know, how the lines of kindred ran at first, inasmuch as the law and the prophets were three times burnt [out] from them.

14A primeira vez foi nos dias de Antíoco, que incendiou toda a Casa [de Deus]; a segunda, nos dias de Qablar, o grande rei de Mosul.

14The first time in the days of Antiochus, who burnt down the whole House [of God]; The second time they burnt those books in the days of Qablar the great king of Mosul;

15E a terceira vez em que queimaram os livros foi durante a deportação pelo rei Nabucodonosor, quando Abumirdan veio, incendiou a casa de Deus e destruiu as muralhas de Jerusalém; o sacerdote Simeão pediu-lhe o depósito dos livros, e ele lho entregou.

15And the third time they burnt the books was at the transportation by king Nabukadanatsor when Abumirdan came and burnt the House of God, and destroyed the walls of Jerusalem; when Simeon the priest asked of him the store of books, and he gave them to him.
