1Depois dele, seu filho Manassés reinou 12 anos em Jerusalém.

1After him Manasseh his son reigned 12 years in Jerusalem.

2Praticou muito mal e fez o povo de Jerusalém adorar ídolos.

2He did much evil, and made the people of Jerusalem worship idols.

3Então, depois de transgredir assim a lei de Deus, o profeta Isaías veio a ele e o repreendeu pelas maldades que praticara.

3Then when he had thus transgressed the law of God, Isaias the prophet came to him and rebuked him for the wickednesses he had wrought.

4Manassés irou-se contra ele e mandou homens valentes e perversos tomar o profeta Isaías e serrá-lo ao meio com uma serra de madeira, da cabeça aos pés, entre as árvores do deserto; depois, lançá-lo às feras [do campo] para que o devorassem.

4Then Manasseh was angry with him, and commanded valiant and wicked men to take Isaias the prophet, and to saw him asunder with a saw of wood, from his head down to his feet, among the trees of the wilderness; and then to cast him to the beasts [of the field] to devour him.

5Assim fizeram com ele. Isaías tinha então 120 anos.

5And they did so to him. Isaias was then 120 years old.

6Vestia sobre o corpo pelos ásperos de cabra e jejuava regularmente a cada segundo dia [da semana], todos os dias de sua vida.

6His raiment was of shaggy goat's hair upon his body; and he fasted regularly every second day [of the week] all the days of his life.

7Manassés morreu; depois dele reinou seu filho Amós, que praticou o mal diante de Deus, pois oferecia filhos e filhas em sacrifício aos ídolos.

7Then Manasseh died; and after him reigned his son Amots, who did evil before God; for he offered sons and daughters in sacrifice unto idols.

8Amós morreu; depois dele reinou seu filho Josias.

8Then Amots died; and after him reigned Yusias his son.

9Tinha 20 anos quando [começou] a reinar e permaneceu 22 anos no reino, na cidade de Jerusalém.

9He was 20 years old when he [began] to reign, and continued 22 years in his kingdom in the city of Jerusalem.

10Fez justiça e o que era reto diante de Deus; celebrou a Páscoa do Senhor como os filhos de Israel jamais haviam conseguido celebrá-la, exceto aquela que Moisés lhes celebrou no deserto.

10He did justice and right before God; and kept the Passover of the Lord, such as the children of Israel never were able to keep, except the one Moses kept for them in the wilderness.

11Este rei purificou Jerusalém de toda maldade. Mas Faraó, o coxo, rei do Egito, matou Josias em Carmelos.

11This king purified Jerusalem of all wickedness, Yet Pharhon the lame, king of Egypt, killed Yusias in Carmelos.

12Depois dele Akaz reinou três meses; Faraó, porém, acorrentou Akaz e o enviou à terra do Egito, onde ele morreu.

12Then after him Akaz reigned three months, yet Pharhon bound Akaz in chains and sent him into the land of Egypt; and he died in that place.

13Após sua morte, seu irmão Yuakem reinou 14 anos; no terceiro ano de seu reinado, Nabucodonosor veio a Jerusalém, e Deus lhe entregou Yuakem; este se submeteu às suas ordens, curvou-se perante ele e pagou-lhe tributo; depois adoeceu e morreu.

13After his death Yuakem his brother reigned 14 years; yet in the third year of his reign, Nabuchadnesor came to the city of Jerusalem, and God delivered Yuakem into his hands; and Yuakem was under his orders, bowed unto him, and paid him tribute; he then sickened and died.

14Depois dele, seu irmão Jeconias reinou três meses; então Nabucodonosor avançou, levou cativos Jeconias e todo o seu exército e os enviou à Babilônia.

14After him reigned his brother Yekonias three months; then marched forth Nabuchadnesor who took captive Yekonias and all his army, and sent them to Babylon.

15No caminho para lá, a mãe de Daniel deu à luz.

15On the way thither, Daniel's mother gave him birth.

16Anania, Azarias e Misael, filhos de Jeconias, também nasceram na primeira deportação de Yuakem.

16Anania, Azaria, and Misael, sons of Yekonias, were also born on the first transportation of Yuakem.

17Então Jeconias morreu e, depois dele, Zedekias reinou 12 anos.

17Then Yekonias died, and after him Zedekias reigned 12 years.

18Assim terminou a sucessão dos reis que reinaram sobre os filhos de Israel e todo Judá; depois deles, não lhes restou rei algum.

18This was the end of kings that reigned over the children of Israel, and all Judah; after them no king was left to them.

19Ao fim do 14º ano de Zedekias, Nabucodonosor veio e deportou todo o povo de Jerusalém até o oeste, até o rio Eufrates e até o grande rio.

19And at the end of the 14th year of Zedekias, Nabukadanatsor came and transported all the people of Jerusalem, as far as the west, and as far as the river Euphrates, and as far as the great river.

20Devastou Tiro e queimou Hirão, rei de Tiro, que reinara 500 anos.

20He laid waste Tyre, and burnt Hiram king of Tyre with fire, who had reigned 500 years.

21Depois disso, Nabucodonosor foi ao Egito, matou Faraó, destruiu seu exército, devastou a terra do Egito e então tomou Jerusalém.

21Then after this Nabukadanatsor went into Egypt, and put to death Pharhon; destroyed his army, and laid waste the land of Egypt; and then took the city of Jerusalem.

22Deus entregou Zedekias em suas mãos; ele o tomou, levou-o perante os ídolos, pô-lo diante do povo e matou seus filhos diante dele, sem piedade.

22And God delivered Zedekias into his hands, whom he took, and brought out before idols, and set him before the people, and slew his children before him, without pity.

23Depois arrancou-lhe os olhos, prendeu-lhe as mãos com correntes e os pés com grilhões e enviou-o à Babilônia por sua loucura e pelo mal que fizera ao profeta Jeremias, lançando-o em fontes de água num pântano.

23He then put out his eyes, bound his hands with chains and his feet with fetters; and sent him to Babylon, because of his folly, and of the evil he had done to Irmias the prophet, by casting him into springs of water in a marsh.

24Depois disso Nebuzaradã, capitão do exército do rei, destruiu as muralhas de Jerusalém, incendiou a Casa de Deus e praticou toda espécie de mal contra Jerusalém.

24After this Nabuzaradan captain of the king's army, destroyed the walls of Jerusalem, burnt the House of God with fire; and did all manner of evil to Jerusalem.

25O sacerdote Simeão, porém, achou favor e graça diante do capitão do exército do rei e pediu-lhe a casa dos registros; e ele deu ordem para que lha entregassem.

25Yet Simeon the priest found favour and grace with the captain of the king's army, and requested him to give him the house of records; and he gave him a command accordingly.

26Então o sacerdote Simeão entrou, reuniu as cinzas dos livros e as depositou num vaso, numa cripta;

26Then Simeon the priest came in and gathered together the ashes of the books, and laid them in a pot in a vault,

27tomou um incensário de bronze, pôs nele fogo, lançou incenso puro sobre ele e pendurou-o na cripta acima do lugar onde jaziam as cinzas dos livros.

27and he took a censer of brass, and put fire therein, and threw pure incense upon it, and hung it in the vault over the place in which the ashes of the books lay.

28Mas [Nebuzaradã] devastou Jerusalém como um deserto.

28Yet [Nebuzaradan] laid waste Jerusalem, like a wilderness.

29O profeta Jeremias permaneceu sentado, chorando e lamentando por Jerusalém durante 20 anos; depois foi à terra do Egito e morreu ali.

29And Jeremiah the prophet sat weeping and mourning over Jerusalem 20 years, after which this prophet Jeremiah went into the land of Egypt, and died there.

30Os escribas e intérpretes destruíram os escritos; os hebreus alteraram os escritos, e os sírios e gregos rejeitaram muitas partes deles.

30Yet the writers and the interpreters destroyed the writings, and the Hebrews changed the writings; and the Syrians and the Greeks rejected many sections of those writings.

31Assim, os filhos do povo não podiam verificar [seu parentesco], nem homens ou mulheres saber quem eram seus pais ou mães, salvo muito poucos;

31So that the children of the people could not ascertain [their kindred], neither could men or women hear who were their fathers or their mothers, except very few of them;

32Isso ocorreu por causa da devastação de Jerusalém; por isso, até hoje nada de certo se encontra entre os escritos, salvo os principais, traduzidos antes da ruína de Jerusalém.

32And this was because of the laying waste of Jerusalem; so that until this day, nothing certain is found among the writings, except the chief writings alone, writings that had been translated before the ruin of Jerusalem.

33Além disso, como alguns escritos foram alterados, as pessoas não podiam determinar como haviam contraído matrimônio, nem saber quem eram suas esposas ou filhas;

33Then again since some of the writings were altered, people could not ascertain how they were married, and could not know who were their wives or daughters;

34não conheciam seus nomes nem seu parentesco, nem a ordem das gerações, tampouco a do sacerdócio.

34they did not know their names or their kindred; nor the order of generations; neither did they know that of the priesthood.

35Jeconias permaneceu 27 anos preso na Babilônia.

35And Jechonias remained 27 years bound in prison at Babylon.

36Depois foi libertado por Marzuk, rei da Babilônia, que o casou com uma mulher chamada Dalilah, filha de Eliakim; dela ele teve Salathiel na Babilônia.

36After that he was released by Marzuk king of Babylon, that married him to a wife, a woman called Dalilah daughter of Eliakim, by whom he had Salathiel in Babylon.

37Jeconias, pai de Salathiel, morreu na Babilônia; então Salathiel tomou por mulher Hadast, filha de Elkanah, e dela nasceu Zorobabel.

37Yet Jechonias, Salathiel's father, died at Babylon, and then Salathiel took to wife Hadast, daughter of Elkanah; and gave birth by her Zerubbabel.

38Zorobabel casou-se com uma mulher chamada Malka, filha de Esdras, o escriba; mas não teve filhos com ela na Babilônia.

38And Zerubbabel married a woman whose name was Malka, daughter of Ezra the scribe; yet he had no child by her in Babylon.

39Nos dias de Zorobabel, ancião entre os filhos de Israel, um rei persa chamado Ciro, que reinava sobre a Babilônia, casou-se com Meshar, irmã de Zorobabel, também ancião entre os filhos de Israel, e a fez rainha segundo o costume das rainhas da Pérsia.

39Then in the days of Zerubbabel, who was elder among the children of Israel, a Persian king, called Cyrus, who reigned over Babylon, married a woman called Meshar, sister of Zerubbabel, elder among the children of Israel; and he made her queen after the manner of the queens of Persia.

40Quando ela se tornou rainha, achou favor diante do rei e pediu-lhe que tivesse misericórdia dos filhos de Israel e os enviasse de volta a Jerusalém.

40And when she became queen, she found favour with the king, and asked him to show mercy to the children of Israel, and to send them back to the city of Jerusalem.
