3 Adão e Eva 21

1Melquisedeque rendeu graças a Deus, e ele e Sem apresentaram ofertas.

1Then Melchizedec praised God; and he and Shem made an offering.

2E Sem permaneceu em sua companhia naquele dia, para retemperar as forças da fatigante jornada.

2And Shem stayed with him that day, to rest from the toil of the journey.

3Ao clarear do novo dia, pareceu bem a Sem empreender o regresso.

3Yet when the day dawned, it seemed good to Shem to depart.

4Melquisedeque desejou-lhe a bênção do Senhor e disse-lhe: O Deus altíssimo que nos guiou a este santuário seja contigo e te reconduza em paz ao teu povo.

4Then Melchizedec wished him God speed, and blessed him, and said unto him, "The Lord God who led us to this place, be with thee; and guide thee until thou come to thine own place."

5Recomendou-lhe ainda: Se indagarem de ti a meu respeito, oculta o caminho e não lhes ensines a rota para que não me venham perturbar.

5Melchizedec said also to him, "When they inquire of thee about me, direct them not in the way; that they come not to me.

6E quando meu pai e minha mãe te perguntarem por mim, dize-lhes: Partiu em santa peregrinação, e não sei o paradeiro da sua morada.

6And when my father and my mother ask thee about me, say to them, 'He has left on a pilgrimage; and I do not know the place of his pilgrimage.'

7‘Assim, quando lhes disseres isso, perderão a esperança de me encontrar e pensarão que de nada serve pensar em mim; desse modo, não te pressionarão para que me tragas de volta.’

7"So that, when thou sayest so to them, their hope of me will be cut short; and they will feel it is of no use thinking of me; so that they will not press thee, and make thee come to me."

8Partiu Sem e retornou aos seus parentes, enquanto Melquisedeque permaneceu prostrado perante o corpo de Adão, ministrando a Deus e adorando-O incessantemente.

8Shem, then departed, and returned to his kindred while Melchizedec remained standing before the body of our father Adam, ministering unto God, and worshipping Him evermore.

9E um anjo do Senhor permaneceu a seu lado, guardando-o e provendo-lhe o sustento até aos dias do patriarca Abraão.

9And an angel abode with him, who protected him and brought him food, until the time of Abraham the patriarch.

10Trajava Melquisedeque túnica de peles, com cinto de couro aos lombos, servindo ao Senhor em contínuas orações e jejuns sagrados.

10And the raiment of this Melchizedec was of skins, with a leathern girdle around his loins, and he ministered unto God, with much praying and fasting.
