1Depois destas coisas, Deus falou a Noé acerca do dilúvio, dizendo que este viria sobre a terra e destruiria todas as criaturas, de sorte que nenhuma delas fosse vista.

1After these things, God spake unto Noah about the Flood; that it should come upon the earth, and destroy all creatures, so as not to let one of them be seen.

2E Deus disse a Noé: Guarda os teus filhos; ordena-lhes e faze-os entender que não devem ter convívio com os filhos de Caim, para que não pereçam juntamente com eles.

2And God said unto Noah, "Guard thy children; command them and make them understand not to have intercourse with the children of Cain, lest they perish with them."

3E Noé deu ouvidos às palavras de Deus, e guardou os seus filhos na montanha, não lhes permitindo descer para junto dos filhos de Caim.

3And Noah hearkened to God's words, and kept his children on the mountain, and would not let them go down to the children of Cain.

4Então Deus falou novamente a Noé, dizendo: Faze para ti uma arca de madeira incorruptível, para que sirva de livramento para ti e para os homens da tua casa.

4Then God spake again unto Noah, saying, "Make unto thyself an ark of wood that will not rot; to be a deliverance to thee and to the men of thy house.'

5Começa, porém, a construí-la na terra baixa do Éden, na presença dos filhos de Caim, para que eles te vejam trabalhando nela; e se não se arrependerem, perecerão, e a culpa recairá sobre eles.

5"Yet begin to build it in the low land of Eden, in presence of the children of Cain, that they may see thee working at it; and if they will not repent they shall perish; and the blame shall rest on them."

6Corta, contudo, nesta montanha santa as árvores das quais farás a arca.

6Yet cut down on this holy mountain, the trees whereof thou shalt make the ark;

7Seja o comprimento da arca de trezentos côvados, a sua largura de cinquenta côvados e a sua altura de trinta côvados.

7Let the length of the ark be 300 cubits, the breadth thereof 50 cubits, and the height thereof 30 cubits.

8E quando a tiveres feito e terminado, haja nela uma porta em cima e três pavimentos, tendo cada pavimento dez côvados de altura.

8"And when thou hast made and finished it, let there be in it one door above, and three compartments (or stories), and every compartment ten cubits high."

9O primeiro pavimento será para os leões, as feras, os animais e os avestruzes, todos juntos.

9The first story shall be for lions, and beasts, animals and ostriches all together.

10O segundo pavimento será para as aves e para os répteis.

10The second story shall be for birds, and creeping things.

11E o terceiro pavimento será para ti e tua esposa, e para os teus filhos e as esposas deles.

11"And the third story shall be for thee and thy wife, and for thy sons and their wives."

12E faze na arca reservatórios para água, com aberturas para tirardes água deles, para beberdes tu e os que estiverem contigo.

12And make in the ark wells for water, and openings to them, to draw water thereat, for drink to thee and to those that are with thee.

13E revestirás esses reservatórios de chumbo, tanto por dentro quanto por fora.

13And thou shalt line those wells with lead, both in and out."

14E faze na arca celeiros para o trigo, para mantimento teu e dos que estiverem contigo.

14And make in the ark store-houses for corn; for food to thee and to those that are with thee."

15Faze também para ti uma trombeta de madeira de ébano, de três côvados de comprimento e um côvado e meio de largura, com um bocal da mesma madeira.

15Then make also unto thyself a trumpet of ebony wood, three cubits long, one and a half cubit wide, with a mouth piece of the same wood."

16E a tocarás três vezes: a primeira vez pela manhã, para que os operários que trabalham na arca a ouçam e se reúnam para a sua tarefa.

16And thou shalt blow it three times; the first time in the morning, that the workmen working at the ark may hear it, and gather to their work.

17Então a tocarás pela segunda vez, e quando os trabalhadores a ouvirem, ajuntar-se-ão para a sua refeição.

17Then thou shalt blow it the second time, and when the workmen hear it, they will gather to their meal.

18E a tocarás pela terceira vez ao entardecer, para que os operários vão descansar de seu trabalho.

18And thou shall blow it a third time in the evening, for the workmen to go and rest from their labour."

19E Deus disse a Noé: Anda no meio do povo e dize-lhes que virá um dilúvio que os submergirá; e constrói a arca diante dos olhos deles.

19And God said unto Noah, "Go about among the people and tell them that a flood shall come and shall overwhelm them; and make the ark before their eyes."

20E quando te interrogarem a respeito da construção da arca, dize-lhes: Deus me ordenou que a fizesse, para que entremos nela, eu e os meus filhos, e sejamos salvos das águas do dilúvio.

20And when they question thee about the making of the ark, tell them: God has commanded me to make it, that we may get into it, I and my children, and be saved from the waters of the Flood."

21Contudo, quando Noé andava no meio deles e lhes anunciava isso, zombavam dele, e entregavam-se ainda mais ao adultério e às orgias, dizendo: Aquele velho insensato!

21Yet when Noah went about among them and told them, they laughed at him, and only committed adultery and revelled together all the more, and said, "That twaddling old man!

22De onde virão águas que ultrapassem os cumes das altas montanhas?

22Whence will ever the waters come, above the tops of high mountains?

23Jamais vimos água subir acima dos montes; e este velho diz que um dilúvio está por vir!

23We never saw water rise above mountains; and this old man says, a flood is coming!

24Todavia, Noé fez todas as suas obras segundo tudo quanto Deus lhe havia ordenado.

24"Yet Noah did all his works, as God had told him concerning them.
