3 Adão e Eva 19

1Partiram então Sem e Melquisedeque conduzindo o corpo de Adão, guiados pelo anjo do Senhor que lhes indicava a rota.

1Then Shem and Melchizedec took the body of Adam, and went on their way; and the angel of God went with them and showed them whither to go.

2Caminharam durante aquele dia até o cair da tarde, descansando numa estalagem ao longo da estrada.

2And so they went on that day until the evening; and alighted at a certain place to rest.

3Puseram-se em oração, e enquanto oravam ressoou uma voz do interior do ataúde de Adão, dizendo:

3Then Shem and Melchizedec stood up to pray; and while they prayed there came a voice from inside the coffin of Adam, that said,

4Glória a Deus que me criou, me concedeu vida, me fez morrer e que agora me restitui à terra da qual fui formado!

4"Glory to God who created me, who gave me life, who made me die; and who again returns me to the earth out of which He took me!"

5E a voz abençoou o jovem Melquisedeque, declarando: De toda a nossa posteridade, a ti somente escolheu Deus, ungindo-te sacerdote com a Sua própria destra;

5And the voice blessed the youth Melchizedec and said unto him, "Of all our race, God chose no one except thee; neither did He anoint any one of them priest with His own hand, except thee;

6e em ti insuflou o Seu puro Espírito como em nenhum outro; e alegro-me, ó meu filho, por teres sido achado digno de tal honraria da parte do Senhor.

6neither did He breathe into the face of any one His pure Spirit as He breathed it into thee; and I rejoice, O my son, that thou hast been found worthy of such honour from God."

7Cessou a voz de falar a Melquisedeque, que se espantou ao ouvir palavras saídas de um corpo sem vida.

7Then the voice withdrew from Melchizedec, who wondered at this voice that came forth from a dead man.

8Mas tudo operava o poder soberano de Deus.

8Yet it was done by the power of God.

9Ao ver este primeiro prodígio em Melquisedeque, Sem beijou-o na face e regozijou-se grandemente por ele.

9Yet when Shem saw this first wonder wrought on Melchizedec, he kissed his face, and rejoiced greatly on his account.

10Naquela noite Melquisedeque nada provou, arrebatado pela imensa alegria da alma, permanecendo vigilante em oração perante o ataúde até o alvorecer.

10Yet as for Melchizedec, he tasted nothing that night, for the joy that filled his heart; yet he continued standing before the coffin of Adam, praising God and praying until morning.

11Contava Melquisedeque quinze anos de idade quando lhe ocorreu esta visão admirável.

11This vision happened to Melchizedec in the 15th year of his age.

12Na manhã seguinte puseram o esquife sobre o jumento e prosseguiram viagem, escoltados pelo anjo de Deus.

12Then Shem and Melchizedec put the coffin upon the donkey, and went on their way; and the angel of God went with them.

13E aconteceu que, ao chegarem a lugares ásperos, o anjo os sustentava pelo poder de Deus e os fazia passar por eles, fossem terrenos ou montanhas.

13And it was so that when they came to rough places, the angel bare them up by the power of God, and made them pass over them, whether they were lands or mountains.

14Assim caminharam até o entardecer do segundo dia, parando para repousar conforme o costume.

14And so they went on their way until the evening of the second day, when they alighted to rest, after their custom.

15Então Sem e Melquisedeque se levantaram para orar; e, enquanto oravam, eis que uma grande luz resplandeceu sobre eles,

15Then Shem and Melchizedec stood up to pray; and as they were praying, behold a great light shone over them,

16de modo que Melquisedeque não sentiu fadiga alguma, revigorado pelo poder divino, saltando de júbilo qual noivo em dia de bodas.

16wherefore Melchizedec did not know any fatigue, by reason of the strength of God, that was in him; yet he rejoiced like one that is going to his wedding.

17Oravam com fervor diante do ataúde de nosso pai Adão.

17Yet they stood praying as they were wont before the coffin of our father Adam.

18E do cimo do caixão veio nova voz a Melquisedeque e a Sem: Eis que nos aproximamos do sítio que o Senhor nos designou.

18Then came a voice from the top of the coffin, that said to Melchizedec and to Shem, "Behold, we are drawing near to the place our Lord has decreed for us."

19Disse ainda a voz a Melquisedeque: Na terra para onde caminhamos descerá o Verbo de Deus; sofrerá e será crucificado no mesmo sítio em que repousarem os meus ossos.

19And the voice said unto Melchizedec, "Upon the land to which we are going, shall the Word of God come down; and suffer and be crucified on the place in which my body is laid."

20O topo da minha cabeça será banhado pelo Seu sangue expiatório; e ali se consumará a minha salvação, restituindo-me Ele a realeza, o sacerdócio e a virtude da profecia.

20The crown of my head shall be baptized with His blood; and then shall my salvation be wrought; and He shall restore me to my kingdom, and shall give me my priesthood and my gift of prophecy."

21Calou-se a voz pelo poder de Deus.

21Then the voice was silent by the power of God.

22Ficaram Sem e Melquisedeque maravilhados com a mensagem que acabavam de ouvir.

22Yet Melchizedec and Shem marvelled at the voice that talked with them.

23E Melquisedeque vigiou toda aquela noite em preces jubilosas até despontar o sol.

23And Melchizedec remained the whole of that night praying joyfully until the day dawned.

24Puseram o corpo de Adão no jumento e retomaram a marcha com o anjo, aproximando-se do destino.

24Then they put the body of Adam on the donkey, and went on their way, and the angel of God went with them, until they neared the place.

25Adiantou-se o anjo e desceu ele mesmo o ataúde do animal, diferentemente das etapas anteriores em que Melquisedeque o descera.

25Then he went before them, and stood before the donkey, and took down from her the coffin, himself alone; and not as on the two former occasions, when Melchizedec took it down from the donkey.

26Ao tocar o esquife na penha, abriu-se a rocha em duas partes, formando o leito exato para o caixão; e souberam ambos que aquele era o lugar santificado por Deus.

26Yet when the coffin reached the rock, the rock split asunder into two parts, — that was the place for the coffin; and Melchizedec and Shem knew thereby that it was the place God had appointed.

27Então o anjo subiu deles ao céu, dizendo a Deus: ‘Eis que o corpo de nosso pai Adão chegou ao lugar que escolheste.’

27Then the angel went up from them into heaven, while saying unto God, "Behold, the body of our father Adam has arrived, and is come to the place Thou didst choose.

28Cumpri fielmente a Tua santa determinação.

28I have done that which Thou didst command me."

29Disse o Senhor ao anjo: Desce a Melquisedeque e conforta o seu coração, instruindo-o a velar perpetuamente junto ao corpo de Adão.

29Then came the Word of God to the angel, saying, "Go down to Melchizedec and strengthen his heart; and command him to abide by the body of Adam.

30E quando Sem partir, diga-se a Melquisedeque que receba o pão e o vinho que estão com Sem e os guarde zelosamente.

30And when Shem enters into rest, tell Melchizedec to go, and to take from Shem the bread and wine he has with him, and to preserve them."
