3 Adão e Eva 1

1Noé percebeu desde a sua juventude como o pecado se havia multiplicado e como a maldade prevalecia; como as gerações de homens pereciam, como a tristeza aumentava e como os homens justos escasseavam.

1Noah noticed from his youth up, how sin had multiplied, how wickedness prevailed; how generations of men perished, how sorrow increased, how righteous men diminished.

2Pelo que afligiu a sua alma; refreou os seus membros e guardou a sua pureza virginal; e lamentava a ruína operada pelas gerações dos homens.

2Therefore did he afflict his soul; he restrained his members, and retained his virginity; and grieved over the rain wrought by the generations of men.

3E este Noé habitualmente pranteava, chorava e tinha o semblante triste; e assim mantinha a sua alma em jejum, de modo que o inimigo não tinha vantagem sobre ele e dele não se aproximava.

3And this Noah habitually mourned and wept and was of a sad countenance; and thus he held his soul in fasting, so that the enemy had no advantage over him, and did not come near him.

4Este Noé também, desde quando era menino junto a seus pais, jamais os provocou à ira, nunca transgrediu contra eles, nem jamais fez coisa alguma sem o conselho deles.

4This Noah also, ever since he was a child with his parents, (parents) never made them angry, never transgressed against them; nor ever did a thing without their advice.

5E quando se achava distante deles, se desejava orar ou realizar qualquer outra coisa, pedia a Deus que o guiasse com retidão naquilo; pelo que Deus cuidava dele.

5And when he was away from them, if he wished to pray or to do aught else; he would ask of God, to guide him aright therein; wherefore God watched over him.

6E enquanto esteve sobre a montanha, não transgrediu contra Deus em nenhuma coisa má, nem se apartou deliberadamente daquilo que agradava a Deus; tampouco em momento algum irritou a Deus.

6And while he was on the mountain, he did not transgress against God in any one evil thing, nor did he wilfully depart from what pleased God; neither did he ever anger God.

7Muitas foram as maravilhas que lhe sucederam, mais do que a qualquer de seus antepassados antes dele, por volta do tempo do dilúvio.

7Many were the wonderful things which happened to him, more than to any of his fathers before him, about the time of the Flood.

8E Noé perseverou na sua pureza e na sua obediência a Deus por quinhentos anos; contudo, depois disso aprouve a Deus suscitar-lhe descendência; pelo que lhe falou, dizendo:

8And Noah continued in his virginity and in his obedience to God 500 years; yet after that it pleased God to raise him a seed; He therefore spake unto him, saying,

9Levanta-te, ó Noé, e toma para ti uma esposa, a fim de que dela tenhas filhos que te sirvam de consolo; pois ficaste só, e sairás desta terra para uma terra estranha; porque a terra se povoará com a tua posteridade.

9"Arise, O Noah, and take unto thyself a wife, that of her thou mayest have children that may be a comfort to thee; for thou art left alone, and thou shalt go out of this country unto a strange land; for the earth shall be peopled with thy posterity."

10Então, ouvindo Noé isto de Deus, não desobedeceu ao Seu mandamento, mas tomou para si uma esposa chamada Haikal, filha de Abaraz, que era dos filhos dos descendentes de Enos, os quais se haviam entregado à perdição.

10Then when Noah heard this from God, he did not transgress His commandment, yet took unto himself a wife, whose name was Haikal, the daughter of Abaraz, who was of the children of Enos's children, that went into perdition.

11E ela deu-lhe à luz três filhos: Sem, Cam e Jafé.

11And she bare unto him three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japhet.
