1Quando nosso pai Adão viu que Seth tinha um coração perfeito, desejou que ele se casasse; para que o inimigo não lhe apareça outra vez e o vença.

1When our father Adam saw that Seth was of a perfect heart, he wished him to marry; lest the enemy should appear to him another time, and overcome him.

2Então Adão disse a seu filho Seth: “Desejo, ó meu filho, que você se case com sua irmã Aklia, irmã de Abel, para que ela possa lhe dar filhos, que encherão a terra, de acordo com a promessa de Deus para nós.

2So Adam said to his son Seth, "I wish, 0 my son, that thou wed thy sister Aklia, Abel's sister, that she may bear thee children, who shall replenish the earth, according to God's promise to us.

3"Não tenha medo, ó meu filho; não há desgraça nisso. Desejo que você se case, por medo de que o inimigo te vença."

3"Be not afraid, 0 my son; there is no disgrace in it. I wish thee to marry, from fear lest the enemy overcome thee.'

4Seth, porém, não queria se casar; mas, em obediência ao pai e à mãe, ele não disse uma palavra.

4Seth, however, did not wish to marry; but in obedience to his father and mother, he said not a word.

5Então Adam o casou com Aklia. E ele tinha quinze anos.

5So Adam married him to Aklia. And he was fifteen years old.

6Mas quando completou vinte anos, gerou um filho, a quem chamou Enos; e então gerou outros filhos além dele,

6But when he was twenty years of age, he begat a son, whom he called Enos; and then begat other children than him,

7Então Enos cresceu, casou-se e gerou Cainan.

10Então foram os dias de Adão novecentos e trinta anos, e os de Mahalaleel cem. Mas Mahalaleel, quando cresceu, adorava jejuar, orar e trabalhar duro, até que o fim dos dias de nosso pai Adão se aproximava.

10Then were the days of Adam nine hundred and thirty years, and those of Mahalaleel one hundred. But Mahalaleel, when he was grown up, loved fasting, praying, and with hard labours, until the end of our father Adam's days drew near.
