2 Adão e Eva 18

1Os filhos de Jarede tinham o hábito de visitá-lo hora após hora, para receber sua bênção e pedir seu conselho para tudo o que faziam; e quando ele tinha um trabalho a fazer, eles o faziam por ele.

1The children of Jared were in the habit of visiting him hour after hour, to receive his blessing and to ask his advice for every thing they did; and when he had a work to do, they did it for him.

2Mas desta vez, quando eles entraram na caverna, não encontraram Jared, mas encontraram a lâmpada apagada e os corpos dos pais espalhados, e vozes vieram deles pelo poder de Deus, que diziam: “Satanás, em uma aparição, enganou nosso filho, desejando destruí-lo, como destruiu nosso filho Caim”.

2But this time when they went into the cave they found not Jared, but they found the lamp put out, and the bodies of the fathers thrown about, and voices came from them by the power of God, that said, "Satan in an apparition has deceived our son, wishing to destroy him, as he destroyed our son Cain."

3Eles disseram também: "Senhor Deus do céu e da terra, livra nosso filho das mãos de Satanás, que operou uma grande e falsa aparição diante dele." Eles também falaram de outros assuntos, pelo poder de Deus.

3They said also, "Lord God of heaven and earth, deliver our son from the hand of Satan, who wrought a great and false apparition before him." They also spake of other matters, by the power of God.

4Mas quando os filhos de Jarede ouviram essas vozes, temeram e choraram por seu pai; pois eles não sabiam o que havia acontecido com ele.

4But when the children of Jared heard these voices they feared, and stood weeping for their father; for they knew not what had befallen him.

5E choraram por ele naquele dia até o pôr do sol.

5And they wept for him that day until the setting of the sun.

6Então veio Jarede com um semblante triste, miserável na mente e no corpo, e triste por ter sido separado dos corpos de seus pais.

6Then came Jared with a woeful countenance, wretched in mind and body, and sorrowful at having been separated from the bodies of his fathers.

7Mas quando ele estava se aproximando da caverna, seus filhos o viram e correram para a caverna, e se penduraram em seu pescoço, chorando e dizendo-lhe: "Ó pai, onde você esteve e por que nos deixou, como não costumava fazer?" E novamente: "Ó pai, quando você desapareceu, a lâmpada sobre os corpos de nossos pais se apagou, os corpos foram jogados de um lado para o outro e vozes vieram deles"

7But as he was drawing near to the cave, his children saw him, and hastened to the cave, and hung upon his neck, crying, and saying to him, "0 father, where hast thou been, and why hast thou left us, as thou wast not wont to do?" And again, "0 father, when thou didst disappear, the lamp over the bodies of our fathers went out, the bodies were thrown about, and voices came from them"

8Quando Jared ouviu isso, sentiu muito e entrou na caverna; e lá encontraram os corpos jogados ao redor, a lâmpada apagada e os próprios pais orando por sua libertação das mãos de Satanás.

8When Jared heard this he was sorry, and went into the cave; and there found the bodies thrown about, the lamp put out, and the fathers themselves praying for his deliverance from the hand of Satan.

9Então Jared caiu sobre os corpos e os abraçou, e disse: "Ó meus pais, por sua intercessão, deixe Deus me livrar das mãos de Satanás! E eu imploro que você peça a Deus que me guarde e me esconda dele até o dia da minha morte."

9Then Jared fell upon the bodies and embraced them, and said, "0 my fathers, through your intercession, let God deliver me from the hand of Satan! And I beg you will ask God to keep me and to hide me from him unto the day of my death."

10Então todas as vozes cessaram, exceto a voz de nosso pai Adão, que falou com Jared pelo poder de Deus, assim como alguém falaria com seu companheiro, dizendo: "Ó Jared, meu filho, ofereça presentes a Deus por tê-lo libertado da mão de Satanás; e quando você trouxer essas ofertas, que as ofereça no altar em que eu ofereci. Então também, tome cuidado com Satanás, pois ele me iludiu muitas vezes com suas aparições, desejando me destruir, mas Deus me livrou de suas mãos.

10Then all the voices ceased save the voice of our father Adam, who spake to Jared by the power of God, just as one would speak to his fellow, saying, "0 Jared, my son, offer gifts to God for having delivered thee from the hand of Satan; and when thou bringest those offerings, so be it that thou offerest them on the altar on which I did offer. Then also, beware of Satan; for he deluded me many a time with his apparitions, wishing to destroy me, but God delivered me out of his hand.

11"Ordena ao teu povo que esteja alerta contra ele; e nunca deixe de oferecer presentes a Deus."

11"Command thy people that they be on their guard against him; and never cease to offer up gifts to God."

12Então a voz de Adão também silenciou; e Jared e seus filhos ficaram maravilhados com isso. Então eles colocaram os corpos como estavam inicialmente; e Jarede e seus filhos ficaram orando durante toda aquela noite, até o amanhecer.

12Then the voice of Adam also became silent; and Jared and his children wondered at this. Then they laid the bodies as they were at first; and Jared and his children stood praying the whole of that night, until break of day.

13Então Jarede fez uma oferenda e a ofereceu no altar, como Adão lhe ordenara. E ao subir ao altar, ele orou a Deus por misericórdia e perdão de seu pecado, a respeito do apagamento da lâmpada.

13Then Jared made an offering and offered it up on the altar, as Adam had commanded him. And as he went up to the altar, he prayed to God for mercy and for forgiveness of his sin, concerning the lamp going out.

14Então Deus apareceu a Jarede no altar e abençoou a ele e a seus filhos e aceitou suas ofertas; e ordenou a Jared que tirasse o fogo sagrado do altar e com ele acendesse a lâmpada que iluminava o corpo de Adão.

14Then God appeared unto Jared on the altar and blessed him and his children, and accepted their offerings; and commanded Jared to take of the sacred fire from the altar, and with it to light the lamp that shed light on the body of Adam.
