1Então Mahalaleel ficou sobre seu povo e alimentou-os com retidão e inocência, e observou-os para ver se não mantinham relações sexuais com os filhos de Caim.

1Then Mahalaleel stood over his people, and fed them in righteousness and innocence, and watched them to see they held no intercourse with the children of Cain.

2Ele também continuou na Caverna dos Tesouros orando e ministrando diante do corpo de nosso pai Adão, pedindo a Deus misericórdia de si e de seu povo; até os oitocentos e setenta anos de idade, quando adoeceu.

2He also continued in the Cave of Treasures praying and ministering before the body of our father Adam, asking God for mercy on himself and on his people; until he was eight hundred and seventy years old, when he fell sick.

3Então todos os seus filhos se reuniram a ele para vê-lo e pedir sua bênção para todos eles, antes que ele deixasse este mundo.

3Then all his children gathered unto him, to see him, and to ask for his blessing on them all, ere he left this world.

4Então Mahalaleel levantou-se e sentou-se na cama, com lágrimas escorrendo pelo rosto, e chamou seu filho mais velho, Jared, que foi até ele.

4Then Mahalaleel arose and sat on his bed, his tears streaming down his face, and he called his eldest son Jared, who came to him.

5Ele então beijou seu rosto e disse-lhe: "Ó Jared, meu filho, eu te conjuro, por Aquele que fez o céu e a terra, a cuidar de teu povo e alimentá-lo com retidão e inocência; e a não permitir que nenhum deles desça desta Montanha Sagrada até os filhos de Caim, para que não pereça com eles.

5He then kissed his face, and said to him, "0 Jared, my son, I adjure thee by Him who made heaven and earth, to watch over thy people, and to feed them in righteousness and in innocence; and not to let one of them go down from this Holy Mountain to the children of Cain, lest he perish with them.

6“Ouve, ó meu filho, daqui em diante virá uma grande destruição sobre esta terra por causa deles; Deus ficará irado com o mundo e os destruirá com as águas.

6"Hear, 0 my son, hereafter there shall come a great destruction upon this earth on account of them; God will be angry with the world, and will destroy them with waters.

7“Mas eu também sei que teus filhos não te darão ouvidos, e que descerão desta montanha e terão relações sexuais com os filhos de Caim, e que perecerão com eles.

7"But I also know that thy children will not hearken to thee, and that they will go down from this mountain and hold intercourse with the children of Cain, and that they shall perish with them.

8"Ó meu filho! ensine-os e cuide deles, para que nenhuma culpa seja atribuída a você por causa deles."

8"0 my son! teach them, and watch over them, that no guilt attach to thee on their account."

9Além disso, Mahalaleel disse a seu filho Jared: “Quando eu morrer, embalsame meu corpo e coloque-o na Caverna dos Tesouros, junto aos corpos de meus pais; então fique ao lado de meu corpo e ore a Deus; e cuide deles, e cumpra seu ministério diante deles, até que você mesmo entre no descanso”.

9Mahalaleel said, moreover, to his son Jared, "When I die, embalm my body and lay it in the Cave of Treasures, by the bodies of my fathers; then stand thou by my body and pray to God; and take care of them, and fulfil thy ministry before them, until thou enterest into rest thyself."

10Mahalaleel então abençoou todos os seus filhos; e então deitou-se na sua cama e descansou como seus pais.

10Mahalaleel then blessed all his children; and then lay down on his bed, and entered into rest like his fathers.

11Mas quando Jared viu que seu pai Mahalaleel estava morto, ele chorou e lamentou, e abraçou e beijou suas mãos e seus pés; e o mesmo fizeram todos os seus filhos.

11But when Jared saw that his father Mahalaleel was dead, he wept, and sorrowed, and embraced and kissed his hands and his feet; and so did all his children.

12E seus filhos o embalsamaram cuidadosamente e o deitaram junto aos corpos de seus pais. Então eles se levantaram e prantearam por ele quarenta dias.

12And his children embalmed him carefully, and laid him by the bodies of his fathers. Then they arose, and mourned for him forty days.
