1 Adão e Eva 75

1Preparou então Adão uma oferta, e ele e Eva a apresentaram a favor dos seus filhos, e a levaram ao altar que haviam edificado no princípio.

1Then Adam prepared an offering, and he and Eve offered it up for their children, and brought it to the altar they had built at first.

2E ofereceu Adão a oferta e suplicou a Deus que aceitasse o seu sacrifício.

2And Adam offered up the offering, and asked God to accept his offering.

3E Deus aceitou a oferta de Adão e enviou uma luz do céu que resplandeceu sobre ela. Adão e seu filho aproximaram-se da oferta, mas Eva e a menina não se achegaram.

3Then God accepted Adam's offering, and sent a light from heaven that shown on the offering. Adam and his son drew near to the offering, but Eve and the daughter did not approach it.

4Desceram alegres do altar Adão e seu filho. Esperaram Adão e Eva até que a menina completasse oitenta dias; então Adão preparou uma oferta e levou-a a Eva e aos filhos. Foram ao altar, onde Adão a ofereceu segundo o costume, rogando ao Senhor que aceitasse a sua oferta.

4Adam and his son were joyful as they came down from on the altar. Adam and Eve waited until the daughter was eighty days old, then Adam prepared an offering and took it to Eve and to the children. They went to the altar, where Adam offered it up, as he was accustomed, asking the Lord to accept his offering.

5E o Senhor aceitou a oferta de Adão e Eva. Aproximaram-se então juntos Adão, Eva e as crianças, e desceram da montanha regozijando-se.

5And the Lord accepted the offering of Adam and Eve. Then Adam, Eve, and the children, drew near together, and came down from the mountain, rejoicing.

6Mas não voltaram para a caverna em que os filhos haviam nascido, senão que vieram para a Caverna dos Tesouros, a fim de que as crianças andassem por ela e fossem abençoadas com os memoriais trazidos do jardim.

6But they returned not to the cave in which they were born; but came to the Cave of Treasures, in order that the children should go around in it, and be blessed with the tokens brought from the garden.

7E havendo sido abençoadas com estes memoriais, regressaram à caverna onde tinham nascido.

7But after they had been blessed with these tokens, they went back to the cave in which they were born.

8Antes, porém, que Eva apresentasse a sua oferta, tomara-a Adão e fora com ela ao ribeiro de água no qual no princípio se haviam lançado; e ali se lavaram. Lavou Adão o seu corpo, e Eva o dela purificou, depois da dor e da aflição que sobre eles haviam vindo.

8However, before Eve had offered up the offering, Adam had taken her, and had gone with her to the river of water, in which they threw themselves at first; and there they washed themselves. Adam washed his body and Eve hers also clean, after the suffering and distress that had come over them.

9E Adão e Eva, depois de se lavarem no ribeiro de água, voltavam todas as noites à Caverna dos Tesouros, onde oravam e eram abençoados; e depois regressavam à caverna onde os filhos haviam nascido.

9But Adam and Eve, after washing themselves in the river of water, returned every night to the Cave of Treasures, where they prayed and were blessed; and then went back to their cave, where their children were born.

10Assim fizeram Adão e Eva até que as crianças foram desmamadas. E desmamadas que foram, ofereceu Adão uma oblação pelas almas dos seus filhos, além das três vezes em cada semana que por eles sacrificava.

10Adam and Eve did this until the children had been weaned. After they were weaned, Adam made an offering for the souls of his children in addition to the three times every week he made an offering for them.

11Depois de desmamadas as crianças, concebeu Eva outra vez; e cumprido o tempo da sua gravidez, deu à luz outro filho e outra filha. Chamaram ao menino Abel e à menina Aklia.

11When the children were weaned, Eve again conceived, and when her pregnancy came to term, she gave birth to another son and daughter. They named the son Abel and the daughter Aklia.

12Ao fim de quarenta dias fez Adão uma oferta pelo filho, e ao fim de oitenta dias fez outra oferta pela filha, procedendo com eles do mesmo modo como dantes fizera com Caim e sua irmã Luluwa.

12Then at the end of forty days, Adam made an offering for the son, and at the end of eighty days he made another offering for the daughter, and treated them, as he had previously treated Cain and his sister Luluwa.

13Levou-os à Caverna dos Tesouros, onde receberam bênção, e depois voltaram à caverna onde haviam nascido. E depois do nascimento destes filhos, cessou Eva de dar à luz.

13He brought them to the Cave of Treasures, where they received a blessing, and then returned to the cave where they were born. After these children were born, Eve stopped having children.
