1Ao terceiro dia Deus plantou o jardim a leste da terra, no extremo leste do mundo.

1On the third day God planted the garden to the east of the earth, at the extreme east of the world.

2Além do qual, em direção ao levante, não se acha nada além de água que circunda o mundo inteiro.

2Beyond which, toward the rising sun, there is nothing but water that surrounds the whole world.

3E ao norte do jardim há um mar de água, claro e puro ao paladar, como nada iguala.

3And to the north of the garden there is a sea of water, clear and pure to taste, like nothing equals.

4Através de sua transparência, pode-se olhar para as profundezas da terra.

4Through its transparency, one can look into the depths of the earth.

5E quando um homem lava-se nela, torna-se limpo por sua limpidez e branco por sua brancura.

5And when a man washes himself in it, he becomes clean by its clearness and white by its whiteness.

6Deus criou este mar para que os justos pudessem se lavar no último dia.

6God created this sea so that the righteous might wash in it on the last day.

7Mas quando Deus fez Adão sair do jardim, não o colocou na fronteira norte, para que não se lavasse e esquecesse sua desobediência.

7But when God made Adam leave the garden, he did not place him on the northern border, lest he wash himself and forget his disobedience.
