1A razão, portanto, é a mente que com lógica correta dá prioridade à vida de sabedoria.

1Reason, therefore, is the mind that with correct logic gives priority to the life of wisdom.

2A sabedoria é o conhecimento das coisas divinas e humanas e de suas causas.

2Wisdom is knowledge of divine and human things and their causes.

3Esta sabedoria é a instrução na lei, pela qual aprendemos as coisas divinas reverentemente e as coisas humanas para nossa vantagem.

3This wisdom is instruction in the law, by which we learn divine things reverently and human things to our advantage.

4As formas de sabedoria são a prudência, a justiça, a coragem e a temperança.

4The forms of wisdom are prudence, justice, courage and temperance.

5Destas, a prudência é suprema, pois por ela a razão governa as paixões.

5Of these, prudence is supreme, for through it reason governs the passions.

6Das paixões, as duas mais abrangentes são o prazer e a dor, e cada uma destas pertence tanto ao corpo quanto à alma.
