1Alguns dos guardas disseram que, quando ela mesma estava prestes a ser presa para ser morta, ela se atirou no fogo para que ninguém tocasse seu corpo.

1Some of the guards said that, when she herself was about to be seized to be killed, she threw herself into the fire so that no one would touch her body.

2Ó mãe, com seus sete filhos, que destruiu a violência do tirano e frustrou seus maus intentos e mostrou a nobreza da fé!

2O mother, with her seven sons, who destroyed the violence of the tyrant and frustrated his evil designs and showed the nobility of faith!

3Pois como um telhado colocado corajosamente sobre as colunas de teus filhos, tu suportaste sem tremer o terremoto das torturas.

3For like a roof courageously placed over the columns of your sons, you withstood without trembling the earthquake of tortures.

4Tem coragem, portanto, ó mãe santificada, com a esperança firme em Deus!

4Take courage, therefore, O sanctified mother, with firm hope in God!

5A lua no céu com as estrelas não permanece tão honrada quanto tu que iluminaste o caminho da piedade para teus sete filhos estrelas.

5The moon in heaven with the stars does not remain so honored as you who illuminated the way of piety for your seven star-sons.

6Permaneces honrada diante de Deus e fixada no céu com eles.

6You remain honored before God and fixed in heaven with them.

7Pois tua prole era digna de Abraão.

7For your offspring was worthy of Abraham.

8E se fosse permitido pintar a história de tua piedade como numa pintura, não estremeceriam os que contemplassem a mãe dos sete filhos suportando variadas torturas até a morte por causa da piedade?

8And if it were permitted to paint the story of your piety as in a painting, would not those who beheld the mother of seven sons enduring various tortures unto death for the sake of piety tremble?

9Seria também digno inscrever em seu túmulo, para memória de nossa nação, estas palavras:

9It would also be worthy to inscribe on her tomb, for the memory of our nation, these words:

10Aqui jazes, uma mãe idosa e uma mulher israelita, que teve sete filhos e era de família sacerdotal. É lembrada a vitória do povo que os enterrou. E eles foram vingados em nome de sua nação.

10Here lies an aged mother and an Israelite woman, who had seven sons and was of priestly family. Remembered is the victory of the people who buried them. And they were avenged in the name of their nation.
