4 Macabeus 11

1Quando este também morreu, torturaram e mutilaram o quarto de maneira semelhante.

1When this one also died, they tortured and mutilated the fourth in similar manner.

2E quando estava para morrer, disse: É bom, estando à beira da morte pelas mãos dos homens, esperar em Deus que nos ressuscitará.

2And when he was about to die, he said: It is good, being about to die at the hands of men, to hope in God who will raise us up.

3Mas para ti não haverá ressurreição para a vida.

3But for you there will be no resurrection to life.

4Eis que também o quinto saltou e disse: Tens poder entre os homens, e embora sejas mortal, fazes o que queres.

4Behold, also the fifth leaped forward and said: You have power among men, and although you are mortal, you do what you wish.

5Mas não penses que nossa nação foi abandonada por Deus.

5But do not think that our nation has been abandoned by God.

6Espera e verás seu grande poder, como ele te atormentará a ti e à tua descendência.

6Wait and you will see his great power, how he will torment you and your descendants.

7Depois deste trouxeram o sexto, que, estando para morrer, disse:

7After him they brought the sixth, who, being about to die, said:

8Não te iludas em vão, pois por nossa própria culpa sofremos estas coisas, pecando contra nosso próprio Deus.

8Do not deceive yourself in vain, for by our own fault we suffer these things, sinning against our own God.

9Mas não penses tu que ficarás impune, tendo-te empenhado em combater contra Deus.

9But do not think you will go unpunished, having undertaken to fight against God.

10Admiravelmente, portanto, a mãe piedosa e sua ninhada de filhos permaneceu firme.

10Admirably, therefore, the pious mother and her brood of children remained firm.
