4 Esdras 9

1E ele me respondeu e disse: Conta para ti os que ainda não vieram, e reúne para mim as gotas que foram dispersas.

1And he answered me and said: Count for yourself those who have not yet come, and gather for me the drops that have been scattered.

2E faz reviver para mim as flores que secaram, e abre para mim as câmaras que estão fechadas.

2And revive for me the flowers that have withered, and open for me the chambers that are closed.

3E produz para mim os ventos que nelas estão contidos. Mostra-me a imagem de uma voz. E então te explicarei a tribulação que perguntaste.

3And produce for me the winds that are contained in them. Show me the image of a voice. And then I will explain to you the tribulation you asked about.

4Respondi e disse: Ó Senhor soberano, quem há que possa conhecer estas coisas, senão aquele cuja morada não é com os homens?

4I answered and said: O sovereign Lord, who is there that can know these things, except one whose dwelling is not with men?

5Quanto a mim, sou sem sabedoria; como posso falar das coisas que me perguntaste?

5As for me, I am without wisdom; how can I speak of the things you asked me?

6E ele me disse: Assim como não podes fazer nenhuma dessas coisas que foram mencionadas, tampouco poderás descobrir meu juízo ou a meta do amor que prometi ao meu povo.

6And he said to me: Just as you cannot do any of these things that were mentioned, neither can you discover my judgment or the goal of the love I promised to my people.

7Eu disse: Mas eis que, Senhor, tu cuidas dos que estão vivos no fim; mas o que farão os que vieram antes de mim, ou nós, ou os que vierem depois de nós?

7I said: But behold, Lord, you care for those who are alive at the end; but what will they do who came before me, or we, or those who will come after us?

8Ele me disse: Compararei meu juízo a um circuito. Não haverá atraso para os últimos, nem pressa para os primeiros.

8He said to me: I will compare my judgment to a circuit. There will be no delay for the last, nor haste for the first.

9Respondi e disse: Não poderias ter criado de uma vez os que foram criados, os que são e os que serão?

9I answered and said: Could you not have created at once those who were created, those who are and those who will be?

10Assim teu juízo poderia ter sido revelado mais cedo.

10Thus your judgment could have been revealed earlier.
