4 Esdras 6

1E ele me disse: No início do círculo da terra, antes que as saídas do mundo estivessem prontas.

1And he said to me: In the beginning of the circle of the earth, before the exits of the world were ready.

2Antes que os ventos soprassem, antes que os trovões e relâmpagos fossem vistos, antes que os fundamentos do paraíso fossem lançados.

2Before the winds blew, before the thunders and lightnings were seen, before the foundations of paradise were laid.

3Antes que as belas flores fossem vistas, antes que as potências do movimento fossem estabelecidas, antes que os inumeráveis exércitos de anjos fossem reunidos.

3Before the beautiful flowers were seen, before the powers of movement were established, before the innumerable hosts of angels were gathered.

4Antes que as alturas do ar fossem erguidas, antes que as medidas do firmamento fossem determinadas, antes que Sião recebesse seu fundamento.

4Before the heights of the air were raised, before the measures of the firmament were determined, before Zion received its foundation.

5Antes que os anos presentes fossem calculados, antes que as imaginações dos que agora pecam fossem alienadas, antes que fossem selados os que acumularam o tesouro da fé.

5Before the present years were calculated, before the imaginations of those who now sin were alienated, before those who stored up the treasure of faith were sealed.

6Então eu planejei estas coisas, e todas foram feitas por mim sozinho e por nenhum outro; assim também o fim virá por mim sozinho e por nenhum outro.

6Then I planned these things, and they were all made by me alone and by no other; so also the end will come by me alone and by no other.

7Respondi e disse: Qual será a separação dos tempos? Ou quando será o fim da primeira era e o início da que vem depois?

7I answered and said: What will be the separation of times? Or when will be the end of the first age and the beginning of the one that comes after?

8Ele me disse: De Abraão até Isaque, quando dele nasceram Jacó e Esaú, a mão de Jacó segurou desde o início o calcanhar de Esaú.

8He said to me: From Abraham to Isaac, when from him were born Jacob and Esau, the hand of Jacob held from the beginning the heel of Esau.

9Pois o fim desta era é Esaú, e o início da seguinte é Jacó.

9For the end of this age is Esau, and the beginning of the following is Jacob.

10A mão do homem está entre o calcanhar e a mão; não perguntes mais, Esdras.

10The hand of man is between the heel and the hand; ask no more, Esdras.
