4 Esdras 13

1Após sete dias, sonhei um sonho de noite. E eis que um vento subiu do mar e agitou todas as suas ondas.

1After seven days, I dreamed a dream at night. And behold, a wind rose from the sea and stirred up all its waves.

2E olhei, e eis que este vento fazia subir do coração do mar como que a figura de um homem. E olhei, e eis que aquele homem voou com as nuvens do céu.

2And I looked, and behold, this wind made to rise from the heart of the sea as it were the figure of a man. And I looked, and behold, that man flew with the clouds of heaven.

3E por onde quer que ele virasse o rosto para olhar, tudo o que via tremia.

3And wherever he turned his face to look, everything he saw trembled.

4E sempre que a voz saía de sua boca, todos os que a ouviam se derretiam, como a cera derrete diante do fogo.

4And whenever the voice went out of his mouth, all who heard it melted, as wax melts before fire.

5Depois disso, olhei e eis que uma multidão inumerável de homens se juntou dos quatro ventos do céu para fazer guerra contra o homem que subiu do mar.

5After this, I looked and behold, an innumerable multitude of men gathered from the four winds of heaven to make war against the man who rose from the sea.

6E olhei, e eis que ele esculpiu para si uma grande montanha e voou sobre ela.

6And I looked, and behold, he carved for himself a great mountain and flew upon it.

7E eu procurei ver a região ou lugar de onde a montanha havia sido esculpida, mas não pude.

7And I sought to see the region or place from which the mountain had been carved, but I could not.

8Depois disso, olhei e eis que todos os que se haviam reunido contra ele para guerrear estavam muito assustados, mas ousaram lutar.

8After this, I looked and behold, all who had gathered against him to make war were very frightened, but they dared to fight.

9E eis que quando ele viu o ataque da multidão que vinha, não levantou a mão nem segurou uma espada ou qualquer arma de guerra.

9And behold, when he saw the attack of the multitude that came, he did not raise his hand nor hold a sword or any weapon of war.

10Mas vi apenas como ele enviou de sua boca como que uma torrente de fogo, e de seus lábios um sopro flamejante, e de sua língua ele lançou uma tempestade de fagulhas.

10But I saw only how he sent from his mouth as it were a stream of fire, and from his lips a flaming breath, and from his tongue he shot a storm of sparks.
