4 Esdras 12

1E aconteceu que, enquanto o leão falava estas palavras à águia, olhei e vi que a cabeça restante havia desaparecido.

1And it happened that, while the lion spoke these words to the eagle, I looked and saw that the remaining head had disappeared.

2E as duas asas que haviam passado para ela se levantaram e se puseram a reinar, e seu reinado foi breve e cheio de tumulto.

2And the two wings that had passed to it rose up and set themselves to reign, and their reign was brief and full of tumult.

3E olhei, e eis que elas também desapareceram, e todo o corpo da águia foi queimado, e a terra ficou muito aterrorizada.

3And I looked, and behold, they also disappeared, and the whole body of the eagle was burned, and the earth was very terrified.

4Então acordei em grande perplexidade de mente e muito medo, e disse ao meu espírito:

4Then I awoke in great perplexity of mind and much fear, and I said to my spirit:

5Eis que tu trouxeste isso sobre mim, porque buscas os caminhos do Altíssimo.

5Behold, you have brought this upon me, because you seek the ways of the Most High.

6Eis que ainda estou cansado em minha mente e muito fraco em meu espírito, e nem mesmo uma pequena força permaneceu em mim, por causa do grande medo com que fui aterrorizado esta noite.

6Behold, I am still weary in my mind and very weak in my spirit, and not even a little strength remains in me, because of the great fear with which I was terrified this night.

7Portanto, orarei agora ao Altíssimo para que me fortaleça até o fim.

7Therefore I will now pray to the Most High that he may strengthen me to the end.

8E disse: Ó Senhor soberano, se achei graça aos teus olhos, e se fui justificado diante de ti acima de muitos.

8And I said: O sovereign Lord, if I have found grace in your eyes, and if I have been justified before you above many.

9E se de fato minha oração subiu diante de tua face, fortalece-me e mostra a mim, teu servo, a interpretação e o significado desta visão tremendamente assustadora.

9And if indeed my prayer has ascended before your face, strengthen me and show me, your servant, the interpretation and meaning of this tremendously frightening vision.

10Para que eu possa consolar perfeitamente a minha alma.

10That I may perfectly comfort my soul.
