4 Esdras 10

1E aconteceu que, enquanto eu falava com ela, eis que seu rosto de repente brilhou exceedingly, e seu semblante lampejou como um relâmpago.

1And it happened that, while I was speaking to her, behold, her face suddenly shone exceedingly, and her countenance flashed like lightning.

2E eu tive muito medo dela, e me perguntei o que isso poderia ser.

2And I was very afraid of her, and wondered what this could be.

3E eis que de repente ela soltou um grito alto e assustador, de modo que a terra tremeu ao som.

3And behold, suddenly she let out a loud and frightening cry, so that the earth shook at the sound.

4E eu olhei, e eis que a mulher não mais me era visível, mas havia uma cidade construída, e apareceu um lugar de fundamentos imensurável.

4And I looked, and behold, the woman was no longer visible to me, but there was a city built, and a place of immense foundations appeared.

5E fiquei assustado e clamei em alta voz e disse: Onde está o anjo Uriel, que veio a mim no início?

5And I was frightened and cried out with a loud voice and said: Where is the angel Uriel, who came to me at the beginning?

6Pois ele me fez cair neste grande transe, e meu fim se tornou corrupção, e minha oração, reprovação.

6For he made me fall into this great trance, and my end has become corruption, and my prayer, reproof.

7E enquanto eu falava assim, eis que o anjo que tinha vindo a mim no início veio a mim.

7And while I was speaking thus, behold, the angel who had come to me at the beginning came to me.

8E quando ele me viu, eu estava deitado como morto, privado de entendimento. E ele tomou minha mão direita, fortaleceu-me e me pôs de pé.

8And when he saw me, I was lying like a dead man, deprived of understanding. And he took my right hand, strengthened me and set me on my feet.

9E me disse: O que há contigo? Por que estás tão perturbado? E por que teu entendimento e os pensamentos de tua mente estão confusos?

9And he said to me: What is the matter with you? Why are you so disturbed? And why are your understanding and the thoughts of your mind confused?

10Eu disse: Porque tu me abandonaste! Fiz como me ordenaste, saí ao campo, e eis que vi — e ainda vejo — o que não consigo explicar.

10I said: Because you abandoned me! I did as you commanded, I went out to the field, and behold, I saw — and still see — what I cannot explain.
