4 Baruque 9

1Ora, os que estavam com Jeremias alegraram-se e ofereceram sacrifícios em favor do povo durante nove dias.

1Now those who were with Jeremiah were rejoicing and offering sacrifices on behalf of the people for nine days.

2Mas no décimo, somente Jeremias ofereceu sacrifício.

2But on the tenth, Jeremiah alone offered sacrifice.

3E fez uma oração, dizendo: Santo, santo, santo, perfume perfumado das árvores vivas, luz verdadeira que me ilumina até subir até ti;

3And he prayed a prayer, saying: Holy, holy, holy, fragrant aroma of the living trees, true light that enlightens me until I ascend to you;

4Por sua misericórdia, eu imploro – pela doce voz dos dois serafins, eu imploro – por outro aroma perfumado.

4For your mercy, I beg you -- for the sweet voice of the two seraphim, I beg -- for another fragrant aroma.

5E que Miguel, arcanjo da justiça, que abre as portas aos justos, seja meu guardião (?) até que ele faça os justos entrarem.

5And may Michael, archangel of righteousness, who opens the gates to the righteous, be my guardian (?) until he causes the righteous to enter.

6Eu te imploro, Senhor todo-poderoso de toda a criação, ingênuo e incompreensível, em quem todo julgamento estava oculto antes que essas coisas viessem à existência.

6I beg you, almighty Lord of all creation, unbegotten and incomprehensible, in whom all judgment was hidden before these things came into existence.

7Quando Jeremias disse isso, e enquanto estava na área do altar com Baruque e Abimeleque, ele se tornou como alguém cuja alma havia partido.

7When Jeremiah had said this, and while he was standing in the altar-area with Baruch and Abimelech, he became as one whose soul had departed.

8E Baruque e Abimeleque choravam e clamavam em alta voz: Ai de nós! Pois nosso pai Jeremias nos deixou – o sacerdote de Deus partiu!

8And Baruch and Abimelech were weeping and crying out in a loud voice: Woe to us! For our father Jeremiah has left us -- the priest of God has departed!

9E todo o povo ouviu o seu choro e todos correram para eles e viram Jeremias caído no chão como se estivesse morto.

9And all the people heard their weeping and they all ran to them and saw Jeremiah lying on the ground as if dead.

10E rasgaram as suas vestes, puseram pó na cabeça e choraram amargamente.

10And they tore their garments and put dust on their heads and wept bitterly.

11E depois disso eles se prepararam para enterrá-lo.

11And after this they prepared to bury him.

12E eis que veio uma voz dizendo: Não enterre aquele que ainda vive, pois sua alma está voltando para o corpo!

12And behold, there came a voice saying: Do not bury the one who yet lives, for his soul is returning to his body!

13E quando ouviram a voz, não o enterraram, mas permaneceram três dias ao redor do seu tabernáculo, dizendo: "quando ele se levantará?"

13And when they heard the voice they did not bury him, but stayed around his tabernacle for three days saying, "when will he arise?"

14E depois de três dias sua alma voltou ao seu corpo e ele levantou a voz no meio de todos eles e disse: Glorifiquem a Deus com uma só voz! Todos vocês glorificam a Deus e ao Filho de Deus que nos desperta – o Messias Jesus – a luz de todos os tempos, a lâmpada inextinguível, a vida de fé.

14And after three days his soul came back into his body and he raised his voice in the midst of them all and said: Glorify God with one voice! All of you glorify God and the son of God who awakens us -- messiah Jesus -- the light of all the ages, the inextinguishable lamp, the life of faith.

15Mas depois destes tempos haverá mais 477 anos e ele virá à terra.

15But after these times there shall be 477 years more and he comes to earth.

16E a árvore da vida plantada no meio do paraíso fará com que todas as árvores infrutíferas dêem frutos e cresçam e brotem.

16And the tree of life planted in the midst of paradise will cause all the unfruitful trees to bear fruit, and will grow and sprout forth.

17E as árvores que brotaram e se tornaram altivas e disseram: “Nós fornecemos nosso poder (?) ao ar”, ele as fará murchar, com a grandeza de seus galhos, e fará com que sejam julgadas – aquela árvore firmemente enraizada!

17And the trees that had sprouted and became haughty and said: "We have supplied our power (?) to the air," he will cause them to wither, with the grandeur of their branches, and he will cause them to be judged -- that firmly rooted tree!

18E o que é carmesim se tornará branco como a lã - a neve ficará enegrecida - as águas doces se tornarão salgadas, e as salgadas, doces, na intensa luz da alegria de Deus.

18And what is crimson will become white as wool -- the snow will be blackened -- the sweet waters will become salty, and the salty sweet, in the intense light of the joy of God.

19E ele abençoará as ilhas para que elas se tornem frutíferas pela palavra da boca do seu messias.

19And he will bless the isles so that they become fruitful by the word of the mouth of his messiah.

20Porque ele virá, e sairá e escolherá para si doze apóstolos para proclamar a nova entre as nações - aquele a quem vi adornado por seu pai e vindo ao mundo no Monte das Oliveiras - e ele saciará as almas famintas.

20For he shall come, and he will go out and choose for himself twelve apostles to proclaim the news among the nations-- he whom I have seen adorned by his father and coming into the world on the Mount of Olives -- and he shall fill the hungry souls.

21Quando Jeremias estava dizendo isso a respeito do filho de Deus – que ele está vindo ao mundo – o povo ficou muito irado e disse: Esta é uma repetição das palavras ditas por Isaías, filho de Amós, quando disse: Eu vi Deus e o filho de Deus.

21When Jeremiah was saying this concerning the son of God -- that he is coming into the world -- the people became very angry and said: This is a repetition of the words spoken by Isaiah son of Amos, when he said: I saw God and the son of God.

22Venha, então, e não o matemos com o mesmo tipo de morte com que matamos Isaías, mas vamos apedrejá-lo com pedras.

22Come, then, and let us not kill him by the same sort of death with which we killed Isaiah, but let us stone him with stones.

23E Baruque e Abimeleque ficaram muito tristes porque queriam ouvir na íntegra os mistérios que ele tinha visto.

23And Baruch and Abimelech were greatly grieved because they wanted to hear in full the mysteries that he had seen.

24Mas Jeremias disse-lhes: Calai-vos e não choreis, porque não me poderão matar até que eu vos descreva tudo o que vi.

24But Jeremiah said to them: Be silent and weep not, for they cannot kill me until I describe for you everything I saw.

25E ele lhes disse: Trazei-me aqui uma pedra.

25And he said to them: Bring a stone here to me.

26E ele a montou e disse: Luz dos séculos, faça com que esta pedra se pareça comigo na aparência, até que eu descreva a Baruque e Abimeleque tudo o que vi.

26And he set it up and said: Light of the ages, make this stone to become like me in appearance, until I have described to Baruch and Abimelech everything I saw.

27Então a pedra, por ordem de Deus, assumiu a aparência de Jeremias.

27Then the stone, by God's command, took on the appearance of Jeremiah.

28E apedrejaram a pedra, supondo que fosse Jeremias!

28And they were stoning the stone, supposing that it was Jeremiah!

29Mas Jeremias entregou a Baruque e a Abimeleque todos os mistérios que tinha visto, e imediatamente se colocou no meio do povo que desejava completar seu ministério.

29But Jeremiah delivered to Baruch and to Abimelech all the mysteries he had seen, and forthwith he stood in the midst of the people desiring to complete his ministry.

30Então a pedra gritou, dizendo: Ó filhos insensatos de Israel, por que me apedrejais, supondo que eu sou Jeremias? Eis que Jeremias está no meio de vocês!

30Then the stone cried out, saying: O foolish children of Israel, why do you stone me, supposing that I am Jeremiah? Behold, Jeremiah is standing in your midst!

31E quando o viram, imediatamente lançaram sobre ele muitas pedras, e seu ministério foi cumprido.

31And when they saw him, immediately they rushed upon him with many stones, and his ministry was fulfilled.

32E quando chegaram Baruque e Abimeleque, o sepultaram e, tomando a pedra, colocaram-na sobre o seu túmulo e inscreveram-na assim: Esta é a pedra que foi aliada de Jeremias.

32And when Baruch and Abimelech came, they buried him, and taking the stone they placed it on his tomb and inscribed it thus: This is the stone that was the ally of Jeremiah.
