4 Baruque 8

1E chegou o dia em que o Senhor tirou o povo da Babilônia.

1And the day came in which the Lord brought the people out of Babylon.

2E o Senhor disse a Jeremias: Levantem-se, você e o povo, e venham ao Jordão e digam ao povo: Quem deseja o Senhor, abandone as obras da Babilônia.

2And the Lord said to Jeremiah: Rise up -- you and the people -- and come to the Jordan and say to the people: Let anyone who desires the Lord forsake the works of Babylon.

3Quanto aos homens que lhes casaram e às mulheres que lhes casaram, os que te ouvirem passarão, e tu os levarás para Jerusalém; mas aqueles que não te escutam, não os conduza até lá.

3As for the men who took wives from them and the women who took husbands from them -- those who listen to you shall cross over, and you take them into Jerusalem; but those who do not listen to you, do not lead them there.

4E Jeremias falou estas palavras ao povo, e eles se levantaram e foram ao Jordão para atravessar.

4And Jeremiah spoke these words to the people, and they arose and came to the Jordan to cross over.

5Ao lhes contar as palavras que o Senhor lhe havia falado, metade dos que lhes haviam tomado esposas não quis ouvir Jeremias, mas disse-lhe: Jamais abandonaremos nossas esposas, mas as traremos de volta conosco para nossa cidade.

5As he told them the words that the Lord had spoken to him, half of those who had taken spouses from them did not wish to listen to Jeremiah, but said to him: We will never forsake our wives, but we will bring them back with us into our city.

6Então eles cruzaram o Jordão e chegaram a Jerusalém.

6So they crossed the Jordan and came to Jerusalem.

7E Jeremias, Baruque e Abimeleque se levantaram e disseram: Nenhum homem aliado aos babilônios entrará nesta cidade!

7And Jeremiah and Baruch and Abimelech stood up and said: No man joined with Babylonians shall enter this city!

8E eles disseram uns aos outros: Levantemo-nos e voltemos para Babilônia, para o nosso lugar - E eles partiram.

8And they said to one another: Let us arise and return to Babylon to our place -- And they departed.

9Mas enquanto eles vinham para a Babilônia, os babilônios saíram ao encontro deles, dizendo: Não entrareis em nossa cidade, porque nos odiastes e nos deixastes secretamente; portanto você não pode entrar conosco.

9But while they were coming to Babylon, the Babylonians came out to meet them, saying: You shall not enter our city, for you hated us and you left us secretly; therefore you cannot come in with us.

10Pois fizemos um juramento solene juntos, em nome de nosso Deus, de não receber nem você nem seus filhos, já que você nos deixou secretamente.

10For we have taken a solemn oath together in the name of our god to receive neither you nor your children, since you left us secretly.

11E quando ouviram isso, voltaram e chegaram a um lugar deserto, a alguma distância de Jerusalém, e construíram para si uma cidade e chamaram-na de 'SAMARIA'.

11And when they heard this, they returned and came to a desert place some distance from Jerusalem and built a city for themselves and named it 'SAMARIA.'

12E Jeremias lhes enviou, dizendo: Arrependei-vos, porque o anjo da justiça está vindo e vos conduzirá ao vosso lugar exaltado.

12And Jeremiah sent to them, saying: Repent, for the angel of righteousness is coming and will lead you to your exalted place.
