4 Baruque 3

1E quando chegou a hora da noite, como o Senhor havia dito a Jeremias, eles subiram juntos aos muros da cidade, Jeremias e Baruque.

1And when the hour of the night arrived, as the Lord had told Jeremiah they came up together on the walls of the city, Jeremiah and Baruch.

2E eis que ouviu-se o som de trombetas; e anjos saíram do céu segurando tochas nas mãos e as colocaram nos muros da cidade.

2And behold, there came a sound of trumpets; and angels emerged from heaven holding torches in their hands, and they set them on the walls of the city.

3E quando Jeremias e Baruque os viram, choraram, dizendo: Agora sabemos que a palavra é verdadeira!

3And when Jeremiah and Baruch saw them, they wept, saying: Now we know that the word is true!

4E Jeremias implorou aos anjos, dizendo: Rogo-vos que não destruais ainda a cidade, até que eu diga alguma coisa ao Senhor.

4And Jeremiah besought the angels, saying: I beseech you, do not destroy the city yet, until I say something to the Lord.

5E o Senhor falou aos anjos, dizendo: Não destruam a cidade até que eu fale com o meu escolhido, Jeremias.

5And the Lord spoke to the angels, saying: Do not destroy the city until I speak to my chosen one, Jeremiah.

6Então Jeremias falou, dizendo: Peço-te, Senhor, manda-me falar na tua presença.

6Then Jeremiah spoke, saying: I beg you, Lord, bid me to speak in your presence.

7E o Senhor disse: Fala, meu escolhido Jeremias.

7And the Lord said: Speak, my chosen one Jeremiah.

8E Jeremias disse: Eis, Senhor, agora sabemos que entregas a cidade nas mãos dos seus inimigos, e eles levarão o povo para Babilónia. O que você quer que eu faça com os vasos sagrados do serviço do templo?

8And Jeremiah said: Behold, Lord, now we know that you are delivering the city into the hands of its enemies, and they will take the people away to Babylon. What do you want me to do with the holy vessels of the temple service?

9E o Senhor lhe disse: Toma-os e entrega-os à terra, dizendo: Ouve, Terra, a voz do teu criador que te formou na abundância das águas, que te selou com sete selos por sete épocas, e depois disto receberás os teus ornamentos (?) --

9And the Lord said to him: Take them and consign them to the earth, saying: Hear, Earth, the voice of your creator who formed you in the abundance of waters, who sealed you with seven seals for seven epochs, and after this you will receive your ornaments (?) --

10Guarda os vasos do serviço do templo até a reunião dos amados.

10Guard the vessels of the temple service until the gathering of the beloved.

11E Jeremias falou, dizendo: Rogo-te, Senhor, mostra-me o que devo fazer por Abimeleque, o etíope, porque ele fez muitas bondades para com o teu servo Jeremias.

11And Jeremiah spoke, saying: I beseech you, Lord, show me what I should do for Abimelech the Ethiopian, for he has done many kindnesses to your servant Jeremiah.

12Pois ele me tirou do poço de lama; e não desejo que ele veja a destruição e desolação desta cidade, mas que você tenha misericórdia dele e que ele não fique triste.

12For he pulled me out of the miry pit; and I do not wish that he should see the destruction and desolation of this city, but that you should be merciful to him and that he should not be grieved.

13E o Senhor disse a Jeremias: Manda-o à vinha de Agripa, e eu o esconderei à sombra da montanha até que eu faça o povo voltar para a cidade.

13And the Lord said to Jeremiah: Send him to the vineyard of Agrippa, and I will hide him in the shadow of the mountain until I cause the people to return to the city.

14E você, Jeremias, vá com o seu povo para a Babilônia e fique com eles, pregando-lhes, até que eu os faça retornar à cidade.

14And you, Jeremiah, go with your people into Babylon and stay with them, preaching to them, until I cause them to return to the city.

15Mas deixe Baruch aqui até eu falar com ele.

15But leave Baruch here until I speak with him.

16Depois de dizer estas coisas, o Senhor ascendeu de Jeremias ao céu.

16When he had said these things, the Lord ascended from Jeremiah into heaven.

17Mas Jeremias e Baruque entraram no lugar santo e, tomando os vasos do serviço do templo, entregaram-nos à terra, como o Senhor lhes havia ordenado.

17But Jeremiah and Baruch entered the holy place, and taking the vessels of the temple service, they consigned them to the earth as the Lord had told them.

18E imediatamente a terra os engoliu.

18And immediately the earth swallowed them.

19E ambos se sentaram e choraram.

19And they both sat down and wept.

20E quando amanheceu, Jeremias enviou Abimeleque, dizendo: Toma um cesto e vai à propriedade de Agripa, pelo caminho da montanha, e traze alguns figos para dar aos enfermos do povo; pois o favor do Senhor está sobre você e a glória dele está sobre a sua cabeça.

20And when morning came, Jeremiah sent Abimelech, saying: Take a basket and go to the estate of Agrippa by the mountain road, and bring back some figs to give to the sick among the people; for the favor of the Lord is on you and his glory is on your head.

21E, dizendo ele isto, Jeremias o despediu; e Abimeleque foi como lhe dissera.

21And when he had said this, Jeremiah sent him away; and Abimelech went as he told him.
