3 Baruque 9

1E ele me pegou e me levou para o oeste; e quando chegou a hora do cenário,

1And he took me and led me towards the west; and when the time of the, setting came,

2Vi novamente o pássaro vindo diante dele, e assim que ele chegou vi os anjos, e eles tiraram a coroa de sua cabeça.

2I saw again the bird coming before it, and as soon as lie came I saw the angels, and they lifted the crown from its head.

3Mas o pássaro estava exausto e com as asas contraídas.

3But the bird stood exhausted and with wings contracted.

4E vendo essas coisas, eu disse: Senhor, por que eles ergueram a coroa da cabeça do sol, e por que o pássaro está tão exausto?

4And beholding these things, I said, Lord, wherefore did they lift the crown from the head of the sun,and wherefore is the bird so exhausted?

5E o anjo me disse: A coroa do sol, quando já passou o dia, quatro anjos a pegam, e a levam ao céu, e a renovam, porque ela e seus raios foram contaminados na terra; além disso, é tão renovado a cada dia.

5And the angel said to me, The crown of the sun, when it has run through the day, four angels take it, and bear it up to heaven, and renew it, because it and its rays have been defiled upon earth; moreover it is so renewed each day.

6E eu, Baruque, disse: Senhor, e por que seus raios estão contaminados na terra? E o anjo me disse: Porque vê a ilegalidade e a injustiça dos homens, a saber, fornicações, adultérios, roubos, extorsões, idolatrias, embriaguez, assassinatos, contendas, ciúmes, maledicências, murmurações, sussurros, adivinhações e coisas semelhantes, que não agradam a Deus. Por causa destas coisas é contaminado e, portanto, é renovado.

6And I Baruch said, Lord, and wherefore are its beams defiled upon earth? And the angel said to me, Because it beholds the lawlessness and unrighteousness of men, namely fornications, adulteries, thefts, extortions, idolatries, drunkenness, murders, strife, jealousies, evil-speakings, murmurings, whisperings, divinations, and such like, which are not well-pleasing to God. On account of these things is it defiled, and therefore is it renewed.

7Mas você pergunta sobre o pássaro, como ele está exausto. Porque ao restringir os raios do sol através do fogo e do calor escaldante do dia inteiro, ele fica exausto. Pois, como dissemos antes, a menos que suas asas protegessem os raios do sol, nenhuma criatura viva seria preservada.

7But thou askest concerning the bird, how it is exhausted. Because by restraining the rays of the sun through the fire and burning heat of the whole day, it is exhausted thereby. For, as we said before, unless his wings were screening the rays of the sun, no living creature would be preserved.
