1E o anjo do Senhor me pegou e me levou a um segundo céu.

1And the angel of the Lord took me and led me to a second heaven.

2E ele me mostrou ali também uma porta como a primeira e disse: Entremos por ela.

2And he showed me there also a door like the first and said, Let us enter through it.

3E entramos, transportados em asas por uma distância de cerca de sessenta dias de viagem.

3And we entered, being borne on wings a distance of about sixty days' journey.

4E ele me mostrou ali também uma planície, e estava cheia de homens, cuja aparência era como a de cães, e cujos pés eram como os de veados.

4And he showed me there also a plain, and it was full of men, whose appearance was like that of dogs, and whose feet were like those of stags.

5E perguntei ao anjo: Rogo-te, Senhor, que me digas quem são estes.

5And I asked the angel: I pray thee, Lord, say to me who are these.

6E ele disse: Estes são os que aconselharam a construção da torre, pois aqueles que você vê expulsaram multidões de homens e mulheres para fazer tijolos; entre as quais, uma mulher que fazia tijolos não podia ser libertada na hora do parto, mas sim dar à luz enquanto fazia tijolos, e carregava o filho no avental, e continuava a fazer tijolos. E o Senhor apareceu-lhes e confundiu-lhes a fala, quando construíram a torre com a altura de quatrocentos e sessenta e três côvados.

6And he said, These are they who gave counsel to build the tower, for they whom thou seest drove forth multitudes of both men and women, to make bricks; among whom, a woman making bricks was not allowed to be released in the hour of child-birth, but brought forth while she was making bricks, and carried her child in her apron, and continued to make bricks. And the Lord appeared to them and confused their speech, when they had built the tower to the height of four hundred and sixty-three cubits.

7E tomaram uma verruma e procuraram perfurar o céu, dizendo:

7And they took a gimlet, and sought to pierce the heaven, saying,

8Vejamos (se) o céu é feito de barro, ou de latão, ou de ferro. Quando Deus viu isso, Ele não os permitiu, mas os feriu com cegueira e confusão de fala, e os tornou como você vê.

8Let us see (whether) the heaven is made of clay, or of brass, or of iron. When God saw this He did not permit them, but smote them with blindness and confusion of speech, and rendered them as thou seest.
