3 Baruque 3

1E ele me levou e me levou onde o firmamento foi firmado, e onde havia um rio que ninguém pode atravessar, nem qualquer brisa estranha de todas aquelas que Deus criou. E ele me pegou e me levou ao primeiro céu, e me mostrou uma porta de grande tamanho.

1And he took me and led me where the firmament has been set fast, and where there was a river which no one can cross, nor any strange breeze of all those which God created. And he took me and led me to the first heaven, and showed me a door of great size.

2E ele me disse: Vamos entrar por ele, e entramos como se voássemos sobre asas, uma distância de cerca de trinta dias de viagem. E ele me mostrou uma planície dentro do céu;

2And he said to me, Let us enter through it, and we entered as though borne on wings, a distance of about thirty days' journey. And he showed me within the heaven a plain;

3E habitavam nela homens com rostos de bois, e chifres de veados, e patas de bodes, e coxas de cordeiros.

3And there were men dwelling thereon, with the faces of oxen, and the horns of stags and the feet of goats, and the haunches of lambs.

4E eu, Baruque, perguntei ao anjo: Faz-me saber, peço-te, qual é a espessura do céu em que viajamos, ou qual é a sua extensão, ou qual é a planície, para que eu também possa contar aos filhos dos homens?

4And I Baruch asked the angel, Make known to me, I pray thee, what is the thickness of the heaven in which we journeyed, or what is its extent, or what is the plain, in order that I may also tell the sons of men?

5E o anjo cujo nome é Phamael me disse: Esta porta que você vê é a porta do céu, e tão grande quanto a distância da terra ao céu, tão grande também é a sua espessura; e novamente tão grande quanto a distância (de Norte a Sul, tão grande) é o comprimento da planície que você viu.

5And the angel whose name is Phamael said to me: This door which thou seest is the door of heaven, and as great as is the distance from earth to heaven, so great also is its thickness; and again as great as is the distance (from North to South, so great) is the length of the plain which thou didst see.

6E novamente o anjo dos poderes me disse: Vem, e eu te mostrarei mistérios maiores.

6And again the angel of the powers said to me, Come, and I will show thee greater mysteries.

7Mas eu disse, peço que me mostre o que são esses homens. E ele me disse: Estes são os que construíram a torre da contenda contra Deus, e o Senhor os baniu.

7But I said, I pray thee show me what are these men. And he said to me, These are they who built the tower of strife against God, and the Lord banished them.
