3 Baruque 2

1Em verdade, eu, Baruque, estava chorando mentalmente e entristecendo-me por causa do povo, e que o rei Nabucodonosor recebeu permissão de Deus para destruir Sua cidade, dizendo:

1Verily I Baruch was weeping in my mind and sorrowing on account of the people, and that Nebuchadnezzar the king was permitted by God to destroy His city, saying:

2Senhor, por que incendiaste a tua vinha e a devastaste? Por que você fez isso? E por que, Senhor, não nos retribuiste com outro castigo, mas nos entregaste a nações como estas, para que nos insultassem e dissessem: Onde está o seu Deus?

2Lord, why didst Thou set on fire Thy vineyard, and lay it waste? Why didst Thou do this? And why, Lord, didst Thou not requite us with another chastisement, but didst deliver us to nations such as these, so that they reproach us and say, Where is their God?

3E eis que enquanto eu chorava e dizia essas coisas, vi um anjo do Senhor vindo e me dizendo: Entenda, ó homem, muito amado, e não se preocupe tanto com a salvação de Jerusalém, pois assim diz o Senhor Deus, o Todo-Poderoso.

3And behold as I was weeping and saying such things, I saw an angel of the Lord coming and saying to me: Understand, O man, greatly beloved, and trouble not thyself so greatly concerning the salvation of Jerusalem, for thus saith the Lord God, the Almighty.

4Pois Ele me enviou adiante de ti, para te revelar e mostrar todas (as coisas) de Deus.

4For He sent me before thee, to make known and to show to thee all (the things) of God.

5Pois a tua oração foi ouvida diante dele e chegou aos ouvidos do Senhor Deus.

5For thy prayer was heard before Him, and entered into the ears of the Lord God.

6E quando ele me disse essas coisas, fiquei em silêncio. E o anjo me disse: Deixa de provocar a Deus, e te mostrarei outros mistérios, maiores que estes.

6And when he had said these things to me, I was silent. And the angel said to me: Cease to provoke God, and I will show thee other mysteries, greater than these.

7E eu, Baruque, disse: Vive o Senhor Deus, se tu me mostrares, e eu ouvir uma palavra tua, não continuarei a falar. Deus acrescentará ao meu julgamento no dia do julgamento, se eu falar daqui em diante. E o anjo dos poderes me disse: Vem, e te mostrarei os mistérios de Deus.

7And I Baruch said, As the Lord God liveth, if thou wilt show me, and I hear a word of thine, I will not continue to speak any longer. God shall add to my judgement in the day of judgement, if I speak hereafter. And the angel of the powers said to me, Come, and I will show thee the mysteries of God.
