3 Baruque 12

1E o anjo me pegou e me levou dali para um quinto céu. E o portão estava fechado.

1And the angel took me and led me thence to a fifth heaven. And the gate was closed.

2E eu disse: Senhor, não está aberta esta porta para que possamos entrar? E o anjo me disse: Não podemos entrar até que venha Miguel, que possui as chaves do Reino dos Céus; mas espere e você verá a glória de Deus.

2And I said, Lord, is not this gate-way open that we may enter? And the angel said to me, We cannot enter until Michael comes, who holds the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; but wait and thou shalt see the glory of God.

3E houve um grande som, como um trovão. E eu disse: Senhor, que som é esse?

3And there was a great sound, as thunder. And I said, Lord, what is this sound?

4E ele me disse: Mesmo agora Miguel, o comandante dos anjos, desce para receber as orações dos homens. E eis que veio uma voz: Abram-se as portas.

4And he said to me, Even now Michael, the commander of the angels, comes down to receive the prayers of men. And behold a voice came, Let the gates be opened.

5E eles os abriram, e houve um estrondo como de trovão.

5And they opened them, and there was a roar as of thunder.

6E Miguel veio, e o anjo que estava comigo ficou cara a cara com ele e disse: Salve, meu comandante, e de toda a nossa ordem.

6And Michael came, and the angel who was with me came face to face with him and said, Hail, my commander, and that of all our order.

7E o comandante Miguel disse: Salve também, nosso irmão, e o intérprete das revelações para aqueles que passam virtuosamente pela vida.

7And the commander Michael said, Hail thou also, our brother, and the interpreter of the revelations to those who pass through life virtuously.

8E tendo-se saudado assim, ficaram parados. E vi o comandante Miguel, segurando um navio extremamente grande; sua profundidade era tão grande quanto a distância do céu à terra, e sua largura tão grande quanto a distância de norte a sul. E eu disse: Senhor, o que é isso que o arcanjo Miguel está segurando?

8And having saluted one another thus, they stood still. And I saw the commander Michael, holding an exceedingly great vessel; its depth was as great as the distance from heaven to earth, and its breadth as great as the distance from north to south. And I said, Lord, what is that which Michael the archangel is holding?

9E ele me disse: É aqui que entram os méritos dos justos e as boas obras que eles praticam, que são escoltadas diante do Deus celestial.

9And he said to me, This is where the merits of the righteous enter, and such good works as they do, which are escorted before the heavenly God.
