3 Baruque 11

1E quando aprendi todas essas coisas com o arcanjo, ele me levou e me conduziu a um quarto céu.

1And when I had learnt all these things from the archangel, he took and led me into a fourth heaven.

2E eu vi uma planície monótona, e no meio dela uma piscina de água.

2And I saw a monotonous plain, and in the middle of it a pool of water.

3E havia nele multidões de pássaros de todos os tipos, mas não como os que existem aqui na terra.

3And there were in it multitudes of birds of all kinds, but not like those here on earth.

4Mas vi uma garça do tamanho de grandes bois; e todos os pássaros eram maiores que os do mundo.

4But I saw a crane as great as great oxen; and all the birds were great beyond those in the world.

5E perguntei ao anjo: O que é a planície, e o que é o tanque, e o que são as multidões de pássaros ao seu redor?

5And I asked the angel, What is the plain, and what the pool, and what the multitudes of birds around it?

6E o anjo disse: Ouça, Baruque: A planície que contém o tanque e outras maravilhas é o lugar para onde as almas dos justos vêm, quando conversam, vivendo juntas em coros. Mas a água é aquela que as nuvens recebem, e chove sobre a terra, e os frutos aumentam.

6And the angel said, Listen, Baruch : The plain which contains in it the pool and other wonders is the place where the souls of the righteous come, when they hold converse, living together in choirs. But the water is that which the clouds receive, and rain upon the earth, and the fruits increase.

7E eu disse novamente ao anjo do Senhor: Mas (o que) são esses pássaros? E ele me disse: Eles são aqueles que continuamente cantam louvores ao Senhor.

7And I said again to the angel of the Lord, But (what) are these birds? And he said to me, They are those which continually sing praise to the Lord.

8E eu disse: Senhor, e como dizem os homens que a água que desce na chuva é do mar?

8And I said, Lord, and how do men say that the water which descends in rain is from the sea?

9E o anjo disse: A água que desce em forma de chuva também esta vem do mar e das águas da terra; mas aquilo que estimula os frutos vem (apenas) desta última fonte.

9And the angel said, The water which descends in rain -- this also is from the sea, and from the waters upon earth; but that which stimulates the fruits is (only) from the latter source.

10Saiba, portanto, doravante que desta fonte vem o que é chamado de orvalho do céu.

10Know therefore henceforth that from this source is what is called the dew of heaven.
