2 Timóteo 2

1Tu, pois, meu filho, fortifica-te na graça que há em Cristo Jesus.

1Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2E o que de mim, entre muitas testemunhas, ouviste, confia-o a homens fiéis, que sejam idôneos para também ensinarem os outros.

2And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. {among: or, by}

3Tu pois, sofre as aflições, como bom soldado de Jesus Cristo.

3Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4Ninguém que milita se embaraça com negócios desta vida, a fim de agradar àquele que o alistou para a guerra.

4No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of {this} life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

5E, se alguém também milita, não é coroado se não militar legitimamente.

5And if a man also strive for masteries, {yet} is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

6O lavrador que trabalha deve ser o primeiro a gozar dos frutos.

6The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. {that...: or, labouring first, must be partaker of the fruits}

7Considera o que digo, e o Senhor te dê entendimento em tudo.

7Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

8Lembra-te de que Jesus Cristo, que é da descendência de Davi, ressuscitou dentre os mortos, segundo o meu evangelho;

8Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

9Por isso sofro trabalhos e até prisões, como um malfeitor; mas a palavra de Deus não está presa.

9Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, {even} unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

10Portanto, tudo sofro por amor dos escolhidos, para que também eles alcancem a salvação que está em Cristo Jesus com glória eterna.

10Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

11Palavra fiel é esta: que, se morrermos com ele, também com ele viveremos;

11{It is} a faithful saying: For if we be dead with {him}, we shall also live with {him}:

12Se sofrermos, também com ele reinaremos; se o negarmos, também ele nos negará;

12If we suffer, we shall also reign with {him}: if we deny {him}, he also will deny us:

13Se formos infiéis, ele permanece fiel; não pode negar-se a si mesmo.

13If we believe not, {yet} he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

14Traze estas coisas à memória, ordenando-lhes diante do Senhor que não tenham contendas de palavras, que para nada aproveitam e são para perversão dos ouvintes.

14Of these things put {them} in remembrance, charging {them} before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, {but} to the subverting of the hearers.

15Procura apresentar-te a Deus aprovado, como obreiro que não tem de que se envergonhar, que maneja bem a palavra da verdade.

15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

16Mas evita os falatórios profanos, porque produzirão maior impiedade.

16But shun profane {and} vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

17E a palavra desses roerá como gangrena; entre os quais são Himeneu e Fileto;

17And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; {canker: or, gangrene}

18Os quais se desviaram da verdade, dizendo que a ressurreição era já feita, e perverteram a fé de alguns.

18Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

19Todavia o fundamento de Deus fica firme, tendo este selo: O Senhor conhece os que são seus, e qualquer que profere o nome de Cristo aparte-se da iniqüidade.

19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. {sure: or, steady}

20Ora, numa grande casa não somente há vasos de ouro e de prata, mas também de pau e de barro; uns para honra, outros, porém, para desonra.

20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

21De sorte que, se alguém se purificar destas coisas, será vaso para honra, santificado e idôneo para uso do Senhor, e preparado para toda a boa obra.

21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, {and} prepared unto every good work.

22Foge também das paixões da mocidade; e segue a justiça, a fé, o amor, e a paz com os que, com um coração puro, invocam o Senhor.

22Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

23E rejeita as questões loucas, e sem instrução, sabendo que produzem contendas.

23But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

24E ao servo do Senhor não convém contender, mas sim, ser manso para com todos, apto para ensinar, sofredor;

24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all {men}, apt to teach, patient, {patient: or, forbearing}

25Instruindo com mansidão os que resistem, a ver se porventura Deus lhes dará arrependimento para conhecerem a verdade,

25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26E tornarem a despertar, desprendendo-se dos laços do diabo, em que à vontade dele estão presos.

26And {that} they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. {recover...: Gr. awake} {taken...: Gr. taken alive}
