2 Samuel 8

1E sucedeu depois disto que Davi feriu os filisteus, e os sujeitou; e Davi tomou a Metegue-Ama das mãos dos filisteus.

1And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Methegammah out of the hand of the Philistines. {Methegammah: or, the bridle of Ammah}

2Também derrotou os moabitas, e os mediu com cordel, fazendo-os deitar por terra; e os mediu com dois cordéis para os matar, e com um cordel inteiro para os deixar com vida. Ficaram assim os moabitas por servos de Davi, pagando-lhe tributos.

2And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And {so} the Moabites became David's servants, {and} brought gifts.

3Feriu também Davi a Hadadezer, filho de Reobe, rei de Zobá, quando ele ia recuperar o seu domínio sobre o rio Eufrates.

3David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates. {Hadadezer: or, Hadarezer}

4E tomou-lhe Davi mil carros e setecentos cavaleiros e vinte mil homens de pé; e Davi jarretou a todos os cavalos dos carros, e reservou deles cem carros.

4And David took from him a thousand {chariots}, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot {horses}, but reserved of them {for} an hundred chariots. {from...: or, of his chariots}

5E vieram os sírios de Damasco a socorrer a Hadadezer, rei de Zobá; porém Davi feriu dos sírios vinte e dois mil homens.

5And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

6E Davi pôs guarnições na Síria de Damasco, e os sírios ficaram por servos de Davi, pagando-lhe tributos; e o Senhor guardou a Davi por onde quer que ia.

6Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, {and} brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

7E Davi tomou os escudos de ouro que havia com os servos de Hadadezer, e os trouxe a Jerusalém.

7And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

8Tomou mais o rei Davi uma quantidade muito grande de bronze de Betá e de Berotai, cidades de Hadadezer.

8And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.

9Então ouvindo Toí, rei de Hamate, que Davi ferira a todo o exército de Hadadezer,

9When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

10Mandou Toí, seu filho Jorão, ao rei Davi, para lhe perguntar como estava, e para lhe dar os parabéns por haver pelejado contra Hadadezer, e por o haver ferido (porque Hadadezer de contínuo fazia guerra a Toí); e na sua mão trazia vasos de prata, e vasos de ouro, e vasos de bronze,

10Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And {Joram} brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass: {Joram: also called, Hadoram} {salute...: Heb. ask him of peace} {had wars...: Heb. was a man of wars with} {brought...: Heb. in his hand were}

11Os quais também o rei Davi consagrou ao Senhor, juntamente com a prata e ouro que já havia consagrado de todas as nações que sujeitara.

11Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;

12Da Síria, e de Moabe, e dos filhos de Amom, e dos filisteus, e de Amaleque, e dos despojos de Hadadezer, filho de Reobe, rei de Zobá.

12Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13Também Davi ganhou nome, voltando ele de ferir os sírios no vale do Sal, a saber, a dezoito mil.

13And David gat {him} a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, {being} eighteen thousand {men}. {smiting: Heb. his smiting}

14E pôs guarnições, em Edom, em todo o Edom pôs guarnições, e todos os edomeus ficaram por servos de Davi; e o Senhor ajudava a Davi por onde quer que ia.

14And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

15Reinou, pois, Davi sobre todo o Israel; e Davi fazia direito e justiça a todo o seu povo.

15And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.

16E Joabe, filho de Zeruia, era sobre o exército; e Jeosafá, filho de Ailude, era cronista.

16And Joab the son of Zeruiah {was} over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud {was} recorder; {recorder: or, remembrancer, or, writer of chronicles}

17E Zadoque, filho de Aitube, e Aimeleque, filho de Abiatar, eram sacerdotes, e Seraías escrivão.

17And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, {were} the priests; and Seraiah {was} the scribe; {scribe: or, secretary}

18Também Benaia, filho de Jeoiada, estava sobre os quereteus e peleteus; porém os filhos de Davi eram ministros.

18And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada {was over} both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers. {chief rulers: or, princes}
