2 Samuel 19

1E disseram a Joabe: Eis que o rei anda chorando, e lastima-se por Absalão.

1And it was told Joab, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom.

2Então a vitória se tornou naquele mesmo dia em tristeza por todo o povo; porque naquele mesmo dia o povo ouvira dizer: Mui triste está o rei por causa de seu filho.

2And the victory that day was {turned} into mourning unto all the people: for the people heard say that day how the king was grieved for his son. {victory: Heb. salvation, or, deliverance}

3E naquele mesmo dia o povo entrou às furtadelas na cidade, como o faz quando, envergonhado, foge da peleja.

3And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.

4Estava, pois, o rei com o rosto coberto; e o rei gritava a alta voz: Meu filho Absalão, Absalão meu filho, meu filho!

4But the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!

5Então entrou Joabe na casa do rei, e disse: Hoje envergonhaste o rosto de todos os teus servos, que livraram hoje a tua vida, e a vida de teus filhos, e de tuas filhas, e a vida de tuas mulheres, e a vida de tuas concubinas;

5And Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines;

6Amando tu aos teus inimigos, e odiando aos teus amigos. Porque hoje dás a entender que nada valem para contigo príncipes e servos; porque entendo hoje que se Absalão vivesse, e todos nós hoje fôssemos mortos, estarias bem contente.

6In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well. {in...: Heb. By loving, etc} {that thou regardest...: Heb. that princes or servants are not to thee}

7Levanta-te, pois, agora; sai, e fala conforme ao coração de teus servos; porque pelo Senhor te juro que, se não saíres, nem um só homem ficará contigo esta noite; e maior mal te será isto do que todo o mal que tem vindo sobre ti desde a tua mocidade até agora.

7Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now. {comfortably...: Heb. to the heart of thy servants}

8Então o rei se levantou, e se assentou à porta; e fizeram saber a todo o povo dizendo: Eis que o rei está assentado à porta. Então todo o povo veio apresentar-se diante do rei; porém Israel havia fugido cada um para a sua tenda.

8Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king doth sit in the gate. And all the people came before the king: for Israel had fled every man to his tent.

9E todo o povo, em todas as tribos de Israel, andava porfiando entre si, dizendo: O rei nos tirou das mãos de nossos inimigos, e ele nos livrou das mãos dos filisteus; e agora fugiu da terra por causa de Absalão.

9And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom.

10E Absalão, a quem ungimos sobre nós, já morreu na peleja; agora, pois, por que vos calais, e não fazeis voltar o rei?

10And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back? {speak...: Heb. are ye silent?}

11Então o rei Davi mandou dizer a Zadoque e a Abiatar, sacerdotes: Falai aos anciãos de Judá, dizendo: Por que seríeis vós os últimos em tornar a trazer o rei para a sua casa? Porque as palavras de todo o Israel chegaram ao rei, até à sua casa.

11And king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Israel is come to the king, {even} to his house.

12Vós sois meus irmãos, meus ossos e minha carne sois vós; por que, pois, seríeis os últimos em tornar a trazer o rei?

12Ye {are} my brethren, ye {are} my bones and my flesh: wherefore then are ye the last to bring back the king?

13E a Amasa direis: Porventura não és tu meu osso e minha carne? Assim me faça Deus, e outro tanto, se não fores capitão do arraial diante de mim para sempre, em lugar de Joabe.

13And say ye to Amasa, {Art} thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab.

14Assim moveu ele o coração de todos os homens de Judá, como o de um só homem; e enviaram ao rei, dizendo: Volta tu com todos os teus servos.

14And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as {the heart of} one man; so that they sent {this word} unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants.

15Então o rei voltou, e chegou até ao Jordão; e Judá veio a Gilgal, para ir encontrar-se com o rei, ao outro lado do Jordão.

15So the king returned, and came to Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to conduct the king over Jordan.

16E apressou-se Simei, filho de Gera, benjamita, que era de Baurim; e desceu com os homens de Judá a encontrar-se com o rei Davi.

16And Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite, which {was} of Bahurim, hasted and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.

17E com ele mil homens de Benjamim, como também Ziba, servo da casa de Saul, e seus quinze filhos, e seus vinte servos com ele; e prontamente passaram o Jordão adiante do rei.

17And {there were} a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went over Jordan before the king.

18E, atravessando a barca, para fazer passar a casa do rei e para fazer o que bem parecesse aos seus olhos, então Simei, filho de Gera, se prostrou diante do rei, quando ele passava o Jordão.

18And there went over a ferry boat to carry over the king's household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was come over Jordan; {what...: Heb. the good in his eyes}

19E disse ao rei: Não me impute meu senhor a minha culpa, e não te lembres do que tão perversamente fez teu servo, no dia em que o rei meu senhor saiu de Jerusalém; não conserve o rei isso no coração.

19And said unto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

20Porque teu servo deveras confessa que pecou; porém eis que eu sou o primeiro que de toda a casa de José desci a encontrar-me com o rei meu senhor.

20For thy servant doth know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.

21Então respondeu Abisai, filho de Zeruia, e disse: Não morreria, pois, Simei por isto, havendo amaldiçoado ao ungido do Senhor?

21But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD'S anointed?

22Porém Davi disse: Que tenho eu convosco, filhos de Zeruia, para que hoje me sejais adversários? Morreria alguém hoje em Israel? Pois porventura não sei que hoje fui feito rei sobre Israel?

22And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I {am} this day king over Israel?

23E disse o rei a Simei: Não morrerás. E o rei lho jurou.

23Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him.

24Também Mefibosete, filho de Saul, desceu a encontrar-se com o rei, e não tinha lavado os pés, nem tinha feito a barba, nem tinha lavado as suas vestes desde o dia em que o rei tinha saído até ao dia em que voltou em paz.

24And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king, and had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came {again} in peace.

25E sucedeu que, vindo ele a Jerusalém a encontrar-se com o rei, disse-lhe o rei: Por que não foste comigo, Mefibosete?

25And it came to pass, when he was come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said unto him, Wherefore wentest not thou with me, Mephibosheth?

26E disse ele: Ó rei meu senhor, o meu servo me enganou; porque o teu servo dizia: Albardarei um jumento, e nele montarei, e irei com o rei; pois o teu servo é coxo.

26And he answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go to the king; because thy servant {is} lame.

27Demais disto, falsamente acusou a teu servo diante do rei meu senhor; porém o rei meu senhor é como um anjo de Deus; faze, pois, o que parecer bem aos teus olhos.

27And he hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the king; but my lord the king {is} as an angel of God: do therefore {what is} good in thine eyes.

28Porque toda a casa de meu pai não era senão de homens dignos de morte diante do rei meu senhor; e contudo puseste a teu servo entre os que comem à tua mesa; e que mais direito tenho eu de clamar ao rei?

28For all {of} my father's house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king? {dead...: Heb. men of death}

29E disse-lhe o rei: Por que ainda mais falas de teus negócios? Já disse eu: Tu e Ziba reparti as terras.

29And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I have said, Thou and Ziba divide the land.

30E disse Mefibosete ao rei: Tome ele também tudo; pois já veio o rei meu senhor em paz à sua casa.

30And Mephibosheth said unto the king, Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my lord the king is come again in peace unto his own house.

31Também Barzilai, o gileadita, desceu de Rogelim, e passou com o rei o Jordão, para o acompanhar ao outro lado do Jordão.

31And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and went over Jordan with the king, to conduct him over Jordan.

32E era Barzilai muito velho, da idade de oitenta anos; e ele tinha sustentado o rei, quando tinha a sua morada em Maanaim, porque era grande homem.

32Now Barzillai was a very aged man, {even} fourscore years old: and he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he {was} a very great man.

33E disse o rei a Barzilai: Passa tu comigo, e sustentar-te-ei comigo em Jerusalém.

33And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem.

34Porém Barzilai disse ao rei: Quantos serão os dias dos anos da minha vida, para que suba com o rei a Jerusalém?

34And Barzillai said unto the king, How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem? {How...: Heb. How many days are the years of my life}

35Da idade de oitenta anos sou eu hoje; poderia eu discernir entre o bom e o mau? Poderia o teu servo ter gosto no que comer e beber? Poderia eu mais ouvir a voz dos cantores e cantoras? E por que será o teu servo ainda pesado ao rei meu senhor?

35I {am} this day fourscore years old: {and} can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?

36Com o rei passará teu servo ainda um pouco mais além do Jordão; e por que me recompensará o rei com tal recompensa?

36Thy servant will go a little way over Jordan with the king: and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward?

37Deixa voltar o teu servo, e morrerei na minha cidade, junto à sepultura de meu pai e de minha mãe; mas eis aí está o teu servo Quimã; passe ele com o rei meu senhor, e faze-lhe o que bem parecer aos teus olhos.

37Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, {and be buried} by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.

38Então disse o rei: Quimã passará comigo, e eu lhe farei como bem parecer aos teus olhos, e tudo quanto me pedires te farei.

38And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, {that} will I do for thee. {require: Heb. choose}

39Havendo, pois, todo o povo passado o Jordão, e passando também o rei, beijou o rei a Barzilai, e o abençoou; e ele voltou para o seu lugar.

39And all the people went over Jordan. And when the king was come over, the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned unto his own place.

40E dali passou o rei a Gilgal, e Quimã passou com ele; e todo o povo de Judá conduziu o rei, como também a metade do povo de Israel.

40Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of Israel. {Chimham: Heb. Chimhan}

41E eis que todos os homens de Israel vieram ao rei, e disseram ao rei: Por que te furtaram nossos irmãos, os homens de Judá, e conduziram o rei e a sua casa dalém do Jordão, e todos os homens de Davi com eles?

41And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all David's men with him, over Jordan?

42Então responderam todos os homens de Judá aos homens de Israel: Porquanto o rei é nosso parente; e por que vos irais por isso? Porventura comemos às custas do rei, ou nos deu algum presente?

42And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king {is} near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king's {cost}? or hath he given us any gift?

43E responderam os homens de Israel aos homens de Judá, e disseram: Dez partes temos no rei, e até em Davi mais temos nós do que vós; por que, pois, não fizestes conta de nós, para que a nossa palavra não fosse a primeira, para tornar a trazer o nosso rei? Porém a palavra dos homens de Judá foi mais forte do que a palavra dos homens de Israel.

43And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more {right} in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel. {despise...: Heb. set us at light}
