2 Samuel 12

1E o SENHOR enviou Natã a Davi; e, apresentando-se ele a Davi, disse-lhe: Havia numa cidade dois homens, um rico e outro pobre.

1And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.

2O rico possuía muitíssimas ovelhas e vacas.

2The rich {man} had exceeding many flocks and herds:

3Mas o pobre não tinha coisa nenhuma, senão uma pequena cordeira que comprara e criara; e ela tinha crescido com ele e com seus filhos; do seu bocado comia, e do seu copo bebia, e dormia em seu regaço, e a tinha como filha.

3But the poor {man} had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter. {meat: Heb. morsel}

4E, vindo um viajante ao homem rico, deixou este de tomar das suas ovelhas e das suas vacas para assar para o viajante que viera a ele; e tomou a cordeira do homem pobre, e a preparou para o homem que viera a ele.

4And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.

5Então o furor de Davi se acendeu em grande maneira contra aquele homem, e disse a Natã: Vive o Senhor, que digno de morte é o homem que fez isso.

5And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, {As} the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this {thing} shall surely die: {shall...: or, is worthy to die, or, is a son of death}

6E pela cordeira tornará a dar o quadruplicado, porque fez tal coisa, e porque não se compadeceu.

6And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.

7Então disse Natã a Davi: Tu és este homem. Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: Eu te ungi rei sobre Israel, e eu te livrei das mãos de Saul;

7And Nathan said to David, Thou {art} the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;

8E te dei a casa de teu senhor, e as mulheres de teu senhor em teu seio, e também te dei a casa de Israel e de Judá, e, se isto é pouco, mais te acrescentaria tais e tais coisas.

8And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if {that had been} too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.

9Por que, pois, desprezaste a palavra do Senhor, fazendo o mal diante de seus olhos? A Urias, o heteu, feriste à espada, e a sua mulher tomaste por tua mulher; e a ele mataste com a espada dos filhos de Amom.

9Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife {to be} thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

10Agora, pois, não se apartará a espada jamais da tua casa, porquanto me desprezaste, e tomaste a mulher de Urias, o heteu, para ser tua mulher.

10Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.

11Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que suscitarei da tua própria casa o mal sobre ti, e tomarei tuas mulheres perante os teus olhos, e as darei a teu próximo, o qual se deitará com tuas mulheres perante este sol.

11Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give {them} unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.

12Porque tu o fizeste em oculto, mas eu farei este negócio perante todo o Israel e perante o sol.

12For thou didst {it} secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.

13Então disse Davi a Natã: Pequei contra o Senhor. E disse Natã a Davi: Também o Senhor perdoou o teu pecado; não morrerás.

13And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

14Todavia, porquanto com este feito deste lugar sobremaneira a que os inimigos do Senhor blasfemem, também o filho que te nasceu certamente morrerá.

14Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also {that is} born unto thee shall surely die.

15Então Natã foi para sua casa; e o Senhor feriu a criança que a mulher de Urias dera a Davi, e adoeceu gravemente.

15And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.

16E buscou Davi a Deus pela criança; e jejuou Davi, e entrou, e passou a noite prostrado sobre a terra.

16David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth. {fasted: Heb. fasted a fast}

17Então os anciãos da sua casa se levantaram e foram a ele, para o levantar da terra; porém ele não quis, e não comeu pão com eles.

17And the elders of his house arose, {and went} to him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.

18E sucedeu que ao sétimo dia morreu a criança; e temiam os servos de Davi dizer-lhe que a criança estava morta, porque diziam: Eis que, sendo a criança ainda viva, lhe falávamos, porém não dava ouvidos à nossa voz; como, pois, lhe diremos que a criança está morta? Porque mais lhe afligiria.

18And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead? {vex: Heb. do hurt}

19Viu, porém, Davi que seus servos falavam baixo, e entendeu Davi que a criança estava morta, pelo que disse Davi a seus servos: Está morta a criança? E eles disseram: Está morta.

19But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.

20Então Davi se levantou da terra, e se lavou, e se ungiu, e mudou de roupas, e entrou na casa do Senhor, e adorou. Então foi à sua casa, e pediu pão; e lhe puseram pão, e comeu.

20Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed {himself}, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat.

21E disseram-lhe seus servos: Que é isto que fizeste? Pela criança viva jejuaste e choraste; porém depois que morreu a criança te levantaste e comeste pão.

21Then said his servants unto him, What thing {is} this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, {while it was} alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.

22E disse ele: Vivendo ainda a criança, jejuei e chorei, porque dizia: Quem sabe se DEUS se compadecerá de mim, e viverá a criança?

22And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell {whether} GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?

23Porém, agora que está morta, por que jejuaria eu? Poderei eu fazê-la voltar? Eu irei a ela, porém ela não voltará para mim.

23But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

24Então consolou Davi a Bate-Seba, sua mulher, e entrou a ela, e se deitou com ela, e ela deu à luz um filho, e deu-lhe o nome de Salomão; e o Senhor o amou.

24And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.

25E enviou pela mão do profeta Natã, dando-lhe o nome de Jedidias, por amor ao Senhor.

25And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD. {Jedidiah: that is, Beloved of the LORD}

26Ora pelejou Joabe contra Rabá, dos filhos de Amom, e tomou a cidade real.

26And Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.

27Então mandou Joabe mensageiros a Davi, e disse: Pelejei contra Rabá, e também tomei a cidade das águas.

27And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbah, and have taken the city of waters.

28Ajunta, pois, agora o restante do povo, e cerca a cidade, e toma-a, para que tomando eu a cidade, não se aclame sobre ela o meu nome.

28Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name. {it be called...: Heb. my name be called upon it}

29Então ajuntou Davi a todo o povo, e marchou para Rabá, e pelejou contra ela, e a tomou.

29And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.

30E tirou a coroa da cabeça do seu rei, cujo peso era de um talento de ouro, e havia nela pedras preciosas, e foi posta sobre a cabeça de Davi; e da cidade levou mui grande despojo.

30And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight whereof {was} a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was {set} on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance. {in great...: Heb. very great}

31E, trazendo o povo que havia nela, o pôs às serras, e às talhadeiras de ferro, e aos machados de ferro, e os fez passar por forno de tijolos; e assim fez a todas as cidades dos filhos de Amom; e voltou Davi e todo o povo para Jerusalém.

31And he brought forth the people that {were} therein, and put {them} under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brickkiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
