1Eu juro a vós, meus filhos, mas não juro por nenhum juramento, nem pelo céu nem pela terra, nem por qualquer outra criatura que Deus criou.

1I swear to you, my children, but I swear by no oath, neither by heaven nor by earth, nor by any other creature that God created.

2O Senhor disse: 'Não há juramento em mim, nem injustiça, mas verdade'.

2The Lord said: 'There is no oath in me, nor injustice, but truth.'

3Se não há verdade nos homens, que jurem pelas palavras 'sim, sim', ou então, 'não, não'.

3If there is no truth in men, let them swear by the words 'yes, yes', or else, 'no, no'.

4E eu juro a vós, sim, sim, que não houve homem no ventre de sua mãe, sem que já antes, até para cada um, haja um lugar preparado para o repouso da alma, e uma medida fixada de quanto se pretende que um homem seja provado neste mundo.

4And I swear to you, yes, yes, that there was no man in the womb of his mother, without already before, even for each one, there being a place prepared for the rest of the soul, and a fixed measure of how much a man is intended to be tested in this world.

5Sim, filhos, não vos enganeis, pois foi previamente preparado um lugar para cada alma de homem.
