1Eu, meus filhos, medi e escrevi cada obra e cada medida e cada julgamento justo.

1I, my children, measured and wrote every work and every measure and every righteous judgment.

2Assim como um ano é mais honroso que outro, assim é um homem mais honroso que outro: alguns por grandes posses, alguns pela sabedoria do coração, outros por intelecto particular, alguns pela astúcia, um pelo silêncio dos lábios, outro pela limpeza, um pela força, outro pela beleza, um pela juventude, outro pela inteligência afiada, um pela forma do corpo, outro pela sensibilidade.

2Just as one year is more honorable than another, so is one man more honorable than another: some for great possessions, some for wisdom of heart, others for particular intellect, some for cunning, one for silence of lips, another for cleanliness, one for strength, another for beauty, one for youth, another for sharp intelligence, one for form of body, another for sensibility.

3Mas que seja ouvido em toda parte: não há ninguém melhor do que aquele que teme a Deus; ele será mais glorioso no tempo vindouro.

3But let it be heard everywhere: there is no one better than he who fears God; he will be more glorious in the time to come.
