2 Clemente 7

1Não podemos, pois, ser amigos de ambos. Devemos renunciar a este para desfrutar daquele.

1We cannot, therefore, be friends of both. We must renounce this one to enjoy that one.

2Consideramos que é melhor odiar as coisas daqui, pois são pequenas, passageiras e corruptíveis.

2We consider it better to hate the things here, for they are small, passing and corruptible.

3E amar as de lá, que são boas e incorruptíveis.

3And to love those there, which are good and incorruptible.

4Porque fazendo a vontade de Cristo encontraremos descanso. Caso contrário, nada nos livrará do castigo eterno se desatendermos seus mandamentos.

4For by doing the will of Christ we shall find rest. Otherwise nothing will deliver us from eternal punishment if we disregard his commandments.

5E a escritura em Ezequiel também diz: Se Noé, Jó e Daniel se levantarem, não livrarão seus filhos no cativeiro.

5And the scripture in Ezekiel also says: If Noah, Job and Daniel rise up, they will not deliver their children in the captivity.

6Pois se nem estes justos pelas suas próprias obras de justiça podem salvar seus filhos, que confiança temos nós de entrar no Reino de Deus se não guardarmos o batismo puro e sem mácula?

6For if not even these righteous ones by their own works of righteousness can save their children, what confidence have we of entering the Kingdom of God if we do not keep the baptism pure and undefiled?

7Ou quem será nosso advogado se não formos achados com obras santas e justas?

7Or who will be our advocate if we are not found with holy and righteous works?

8Portanto, irmãos, lutemos sabendo que a luta está próxima.

8Therefore, brethren, let us strive knowing that the struggle is near.
