1O que devemos fazer, então, para obtê-los? Andar de maneira santa e justa.

1What must we do, then, to obtain them? Walk in a holy and righteous manner.

2E considerar estas coisas do mundo como alheias a nós, e não desejá-las.

2And consider these things of the world as foreign to us, and not desire them.

3Porque quando desejamos adquiri-las, caímos do caminho da justiça.

3For when we desire to acquire them, we fall from the path of righteousness.

4O Senhor diz: Nenhum servo pode servir a dois senhores.

4The Lord says: No servant can serve two masters.

5Se queremos servir a Deus e a Mamom, não nos é proveitoso.

5If we want to serve both God and Mammon, it is not profitable to us.

6Porque de que adianta ganhar o mundo todo e perder a alma?

6For what does it profit to gain the whole world and lose the soul?

7Este mundo e o futuro são dois inimigos.

7This world and the future are two enemies.

8Este fala de adultério, corrupção, avareza e engano. O outro renuncia a estas coisas.

8This one speaks of adultery, corruption, greed and deceit. The other renounces these things.
