2 Clemente 13

1Portanto, irmãos, sirvamos a Deus de coração puro e seremos justos.

1Therefore, brethren, let us serve God from a pure heart and we shall be righteous.

2Mas se não o servirmos porque não cremos na promessa de Deus, seremos miseráveis.

2But if we do not serve him because we do not believe in the promise of God, we shall be miserable.

3Porque a palavra profética também diz: Miseráveis são os indecisos, os que duvidam em sua alma.

3For the prophetic word also says: Wretched are the double-minded, who doubt in their soul.

4Que dizem: Estas coisas ouvimos há muito tempo, nos dias de nossos pais, e nós esperamos dia após dia e não vimos nenhuma delas.

4Who say: These things we heard long ago, in the days of our fathers, and we have waited day after day and have seen none of them.

5Ó tolos! Comparai-vos a uma árvore: tomai uma videira. Primeiro perde as folhas, depois vem o broto, depois a folha, depois a flor. E depois disso, a uva verde, e então o cacho maduro.

5O fools! Compare yourselves to a tree: take a vine. First it loses its leaves, then comes the bud, then the leaf, then the flower. And after that, the unripe grape, and then the ripe cluster.

6Vede como em pouco tempo o fruto da árvore atinge a maturidade.

6See how in a short time the fruit of the tree reaches maturity.

7Verdadeiramente, depressa e subitamente seu propósito será cumprido.

7Truly, quickly and suddenly his purpose will be fulfilled.

8A escritura também testifica: Ele virá rapidamente e não tardará, e de repente o Senhor virá ao seu templo, o Santo a quem vós esperais.

8The scripture also testifies: He will come quickly and will not delay, and suddenly the Lord will come to his temple, the Holy One whom you await.
