2 Clemente 12

1Mas abandonemos a maldade como precursora de nossos pecados e fujamos da impiedade para que os males não nos alcancem.

1But let us abandon wickedness as the forerunner of our sins and flee from ungodliness lest the evils overtake us.

2Porque se formos zelosos em fazer o bem, a paz nos seguirá.

2For if we are zealous in doing good, peace will follow us.

3Por isso nenhum homem pode encontrá-la quando introduzem temores humanos.

3For this reason no man can find it when they introduce human fears.

4Preferindo o prazer presente à promessa futura.

4Preferring the present pleasure to the future promise.

5Pois não sabem quanto tormento traz o prazer presente.

5For they do not know how much torment the present pleasure brings.

6E que deleite a promessa futura.

6And what delight the future promise.

7E se eles mesmos apenas fizessem estas coisas, seria suportável.

7And if they themselves alone did these things, it would be bearable.

8Mas agora persistem ensinando o mal a almas inocentes, não sabendo que terão dupla condenação, tanto eles quanto os que os ouvem.

8But now they persist in teaching evil to innocent souls, not knowing that they will have double condemnation, both they and those who hear them.
