2 Baruque 78

1Estas são as palavras daquela epístola que Baruque, filho de Nerias, enviou às nove tribos e meia que estavam do outro lado do rio Eufrates, na qual estas coisas foram escritas.

1These are the words of that epistle which Baruch the son of Neriah sent to the nine and a half tribes, which were across the river Euphrates, in which these things were written.

2Assim disse Baruque, filho de Nerias, aos irmãos levados ao cativeiro:

2Thus saith Baruch the son of Neriah to the brethren carried into captivity:

3"Misericórdia e paz." Tenho presente, meus irmãos, o amor dAquele que nos criou, que nos amou desde os tempos antigos e nunca nos odiou, mas sobretudo nos educou.

3"Mercy and peace." I bear in mind, my brethren, the love of Him who created us, who loved us from of old, and never hated us, but above all educated us.

4E verdadeiramente eu sei que eis que todos nós, as doze tribos, estamos unidos por um vínculo, visto que nascemos de um pai.

4And truly I know that behold all we the twelve tribes are bound by one bond, inasmuch as we are born from one father.

5Portanto, tive o maior cuidado em deixar-vos as palavras desta epístola antes de morrer, para que sejais consolados com relação aos males que vos sobrevieram e para que também vos entristeçais com relação ao mal que sobreveio a vossos irmãos; e novamente, também, para que justifiqueis Seu julgamento, que Ele decretou contra vós, de que fôsseis levados cativos - pois o que sofrestes é desproporcional ao que fizestes - a fim de que, nos últimos tempos, sejais considerados dignos de vossos pais.

5Wherefore I have been the more careful to leave you the words of this epistle before I die, that ye may be comforted regarding the evils which have come upon you, and that ye may be grieved also regarding the evil that has befallen your brethren; and again, also, that ye may justify His judgement which He has decreed against you that ye should be carried away captives- for what ye have suffered is disproportioned to what ye have done- in order that, at the last times, ye may be found worthy of your fathers.

6Portanto, se considerardes as coisas que agora sofrestes para o vosso bem, para que não sejais finalmente condenados e atormentados, então recebereis esperança eterna; se acima de tudo destruístes do vosso coração o vão erro, por causa do qual partistes daqui.

6Therefore, if ye consider those things which ye have now suffered for your good, that ye may not finally be condemned and tormented, then ye will receive eternal hope; if above all ye destroy from your heart vain error, on account of which ye departed hence.

7Pois se vocês fizerem essas coisas, Ele se lembrará continuamente de você, Aquele que sempre prometeu em nosso nome àqueles que eram mais excelentes do que nós, que Ele nunca nos esquecerá ou nos abandonará, mas com muita misericórdia reunirá novamente aqueles que estavam dispersos.

7For if ye so do these things, He will continually remember you, He who alway promised on our behalf to those who were more excellent than we, that He will never forget or forsake us, but with much mercy will gather together again those who were dispersed.
