2 Baruque 51

1“E acontecerá que, quando esse dia designado tiver passado, então o aspecto daqueles que são condenados será mudado posteriormente, e a glória daqueles que são justificados.

1"And it will come to pass, when that appointed day has gone by, that then shall the aspect of those who are condemned be afterwards changed, and the glory of those who are justified.

2Pois o aspecto daqueles que agora agem perversamente se tornará pior do que o daqueles que sofrem tormento.

2For the aspect of those who now act wickedly shall become worse than is that of such as suffer torment.

3Também (quanto à) glória daqueles que agora foram justificados em Minha lei, que tiveram entendimento em suas vidas e que plantaram em seus corações a raiz da sabedoria, então seu esplendor será glorificado em mudanças, e a forma de seu rosto será transformada na luz de sua beleza, para que possam adquirir e receber o mundo que não morre, que então lhes é prometido.

3Also (as for) the glory of those who have now been justified in My law, who have had understanding in their life, and who have planted in their heart the root of wisdom, then their splendour shall be glorified in changes, and the form of their face will be turned into the light of their beauty, that they may be able to acquire and receive the world which does not die, which is then promised to them.

4Pois acima de tudo, aqueles que vierem lamentarão, por terem rejeitado a Minha lei e tapado os ouvidos para não ouvirem sabedoria ou receberem entendimento.

4For over this above all will those who come then lament, that they rejected My law, and stopped their ears that they might not hear wisdom or receive understanding.

5Quando, portanto, eles virem aqueles sobre os quais estão agora exaltados, (mas) que serão então exaltados e glorificados mais do que eles, eles serão respectivamente transformados, os últimos no esplendor dos anjos, e os primeiros definharão principalmente de admiração pelas visões e pela contemplação das formas.

5When therefore they see those, over whom they are now exalted, (but) who shall then be exalted and glorified more than they, they shall respectively be transformed, the latter into the splendour of angels, and the former will mainly waste away in wonder at the visions and in the beholding of the forms.

6Pois eles primeiro verão e depois partirão para serem atormentados.

6For they will first behold and afterwards depart to be tormented.

7Mas aqueles que foram salvos pelas suas obras, e para quem a lei tem sido agora uma esperança, e o entendimento uma expectativa, e a sabedoria uma confiança, maravilhas aparecerão no seu tempo.

7But those who have been saved by their works, and to whom the law has been now a hope, and understanding an expectation, and wisdom a confidence, will wonders appear in their time.

8Pois eles verão o mundo que agora é invisível para eles, e verão o tempo que agora está escondido deles:

8For they will behold the world which is now invisible to them, and they will behold the time which is now hidden from them:

9E, novamente, o tempo não os envelhecerá.

9And again time will not age them.

10Pois nas alturas daquele mundo eles habitarão e serão feitos como os anjos e serão iguais às estrelas e serão transformados em todas as formas que desejarem, da beleza para a beleza e da luz para o esplendor da glória.

10For in the heights of that world shall they dwell, and they shall be made like unto the angels, and be made equal to the stars, and they shall be changed into every form they desire, from beauty into loveliness, and from light into the splendour of glory.

11Pois serão estendidas diante deles as extensões do Paraíso, e será mostrada a eles a beleza da majestade das criaturas vivas que estão abaixo do trono, e todos os exércitos dos anjos, que [são agora mantidos firmes pela Minha palavra, para que não apareçam, e] são mantidos firmes por uma ordem, para que possam permanecer em seus lugares até que chegue seu advento.

11For there shall be spread before them the extents of Paradise, and there shall be shown to them the beauty of the majesty of the living creatures which are beneath the throne, and all the armies of the angels, who [are now held fast by My word, lest they should appear, and] are held fast by a command, that they may stand in their places till their advent comes.

12Além disso, haverá então excelência nos justos, superando a dos anjos.

12Moreover, there shall then be excellency in the righteous surpassing that in the angels.

13Pois os primeiros receberão os últimos, aqueles que esperavam, e os últimos, aqueles de quem ouviram falar que haviam falecido.

13For the first will receive the last, those whom they were expecting, and the last those of whom they used to hear that they had passed away.

14Pois eles foram libertos deste mundo de tribulação e abandonaram o fardo da angústia.

14For they have been delivered from this world of tribulation, and laid down the burthen of anguish.

15Por que então os homens perderam a vida, e por que aqueles que estavam na terra trocaram suas almas?

15For what then have men lost their life, and for what have those who were on the earth exchanged their soul?

16Pois então eles escolheram (não) para si aquele tempo que, além do alcance da angústia, não poderia passar, e escolheram para si aquele tempo, cujas questões estão cheias de lamentações e males, e negaram ao mundo que envelhece, não aqueles que vêm a ele, e rejeitaram o tempo da glória, para que não cheguem à honra que eu te disse antes.

16For then they chose (not) for themselves that time, which, beyond the reach of anguish, could not pass away, and they chose for themselves that time, whose issues are full of lamentations and evils, and they denied the world which ages not those who come to it, and they rejected the time of the glory, so that they shall not come to the honour of which I told thee before."
