2 Baruque 5

1E eu respondi e disse: Estarei, portanto, em grandes apuros em Sião, porque Teus inimigos virão àquele lugar e poluirão Teu santuário, e levarão Tua herança ao cativeiro, e dominarão aqueles a quem Tu amaste, e eles partirão novamente para o lugar de seus ídolos, e se vangloriarão diante deles. E o que farás pelo Teu grande nome?'

1And I answered and said: I shall, therefore, be in great straits in Zion, because Thine enemies will come to that place and pollute Thy sanctuary, and lead Thine inheritance into captivity, and will lord it over those whom Thou hast loved, and they will depart again to the place of their idols, and will boast before them. And what wilt Thou do for Thy great name?'

2E o Senhor me disse: Meu nome e minha glória têm duração eterna; Além disso, meu julgamento preservará seu direito em seu próprio tempo.

2And the Lord said unto me: My name and My glory have an eternal duration; My judgement, moreover, will preserve its right in its own time.

3E verás com os teus olhos que o inimigo não derrubará Sião, nem queimará Jerusalém, mas será subserviente ao juiz naquele momento.

3And thou wilt see with thine eyes that the enemy will not overthrow Zion, nor burn Jerusalem, but be subservient to the judge for the time.

4Mas vá e faça tudo o que eu te disse.'

4But do thou go and do whatsoever I have said unto thee.'

5E eu fui e levei Jeremias, e Adu, e Seriah, e Jabish, e Gedalias, e todos os homens honrados do povo, e os levei ao vale de Cedron, e narrei-lhes tudo o que tinha sido dito para mim.

5And I went and took Jeremiah, and Adu, and Seriah, and Jabish, and Gedaliah, and all the honourable men of the people, and I led them to the valley of Cedron, and I narrated to them all that had been said to me.

6E eles levantaram a voz e todos choraram.

6And they lifted up their voice, and they all wept.

7E ficamos ali sentados e jejuamos até a noite.

7And we sat there and fasted until the evening.
