2 Baruque 46

1E meu filho e os anciãos do povo responderam e disseram-me: “Será que o Poderoso nos humilhou a tal ponto que te tirou de nós rapidamente?

1And my son and the elders of the people answered and said unto me: "Has the Mighty One humiliated us to such a degree as to take thee from us quickly?

2E verdadeiramente estaremos nas trevas, e não haverá luz para as pessoas que restarem.

2And truly we shall be in darkness, and there will be no light to the people who are left.

3Pois onde novamente buscaremos a lei, ou quem nos distinguirá entre a morte e a vida?”

3For where again shall we seek the law, or who will distinguish for us between death and life?"

4E eu lhes disse: “Não posso resistir ao trono do Poderoso; contudo, não faltará a Israel um homem sábio, nem um filho da lei à raça de Jacó.

4And I said unto them: "The throne of the Mighty One I cannot resist: nevertheless, there shall not be wanting to Israel a wise man nor a son of the law to the race of Jacob.

5Mas apenas preparem seus corações para que possam ouvir a lei e estarem sujeitos àqueles que, com medo, são sábios e compreensivos; e preparem suas almas para que não se afastem deles.

5But only prepare ye your hearts, that ye may hear the law, and be subject to those who in fear are wise and understanding; and prepare your souls that ye may not depart from them.

6Pois se você fizer essas coisas, boas novas chegarão a você. Do qual eu já lhe falei; nem caireis no tormento de que antes vos testemunhei." [

6For if ye do these things, good tidings will come unto you. Which I before told you of; nor shall ye fall into the torment, of which I testified to you before." [

7Mas no que diz respeito à palavra de que eu seria levado, não a comuniquei a eles ou a meu filho.]

7But with regard to the word that I was to be taken, I did not make (it) known to them or to my son.]
