2 Baruque 44

1E eu, Baruque, saí dali e vim para o meu povo, e chamei meu filho primogênito e os Gedalias, meus amigos, e sete dos anciãos do povo, e disse-lhes:

1And I, Baruch, went from thence, and came to my people, and I called my first-born son and the Gedaliahs my friends, and seven of the elders of the people, and I said unto them:

2'Eis que vou para meus pais conforme o caminho de toda a terra.

2'Behold, I go unto my fathers according to the way of all the earth.

3Mas não vos retireis do caminho da lei, mas guardai e admoestai as pessoas que permanecem; Para que não se desviem dos mandamentos do Poderoso.

3But withdraw ye not from the way of the law, but guard and admonish the people which remain; Lest they withdraw from the commandments of the Mighty One.

4Pois vocês veem que Aquele a quem servimos é justo, e nosso Criador não faz acepção de pessoas.

4For ye see that He whom we serve is just, and our Creator is no respecter of persons.

5E vede o que aconteceu a Sião e o que aconteceu a Jerusalém.

5And see ye what hath befallen Zion, and what hath happened to Jerusalem.

6Pois o julgamento do Poderoso (assim) será divulgado, e Seus caminhos, que, embora incompreensíveis, são corretos.

6For the judgement of the Mighty One will (thereby) be made known, and His ways, which, though past finding out, are right.

7Pois se suportardes e perseverares em Seu temor e não esquecerdes Sua lei, os tempos mudarão para sempre e vereis o consolo de Sião.

7For if ye endure and persevere in His fear, and do not forget His law, the times will change over you for good, and ye will see the consolation of Zion.

8Porque tudo o que existe agora não é nada, mas o que será é muito grande.

8Because whatever is now is nothing, but that which shall be is very great.

9Pois tudo o que é corruptível passará, e tudo o que morre partirá, e todo o tempo presente será esquecido, e não haverá qualquer lembrança do tempo presente, que está contaminado com males.

9For everything that is corruptible will pass away, and everything that dies will depart, and all the present time shall be forgotten, nor shall there be any remembrance of the present time, which is defiled with evils.

10Pois o que corre agora corre para a vaidade, e o que prospera rapidamente cairá e será humilhado.

10For that which runs now runs unto vanity, and that which prospers shall quickly fall and be humiliated.

11Pois aquilo que há de ser será objeto de desejo, e naquilo que virá depois depositamos esperança; pois é um tempo que não passa.

11For that which is to be shall be the object of desire, and on that which comes afterwards do we place hope; for it is a time that passes not away.

12E chega a hora que permanece para sempre, e o novo mundo que não transforma em corrupção aqueles que partem para a sua bem-aventurança, e não tem misericórdia daqueles que partem para o tormento, e não levará à perdição aqueles que vivem nele.

12And the hour comes which abides for ever, and the new world which does not turn to corruption those who depart to its blessedness, and has no mercy on those who depart to torment, and will not lead to perdition those who live in it.

13Pois estes são os que herdarão o tempo de que foi falado, e deles será a herança do tempo prometido.

13For these are they who shall inherit that time which has been spoken of, and theirs is the inheritance of the promised time.

14Estes são os que adquiriram para si tesouros de sabedoria, e com eles foram encontrados depósitos de entendimento, e não se afastaram da misericórdia, e preservaram a verdade da lei.

14These are they who have acquired for themselves treasures of wisdom, and with them are found stores of understanding, and from mercy have they not withdrawn, and the truth of the law have they preserved.

15Pois a eles será dado o mundo vindouro, mas a morada dos demais, que são muitos, estará no fogo.'

15For to them shall be given the world to come, but the dwelling of the rest who are many shall be in the fire.'
