2 Baruque 15

1E o Senhor respondeu e disse-me: 'Tu estás justamente surpreso com a partida do homem, mas não julgaste bem com respeito aos males que sobrevêm aos que pecam.

1And the Lord answered and said unto me: 'Thou art rightly astonied regarding the departure of man, but thou hast not judged well regarding the evils which befall those who sin.

2E quanto ao que disseste, que os justos são levados e os ímpios prosperam,

2And as regards what thou hast said, that the righteous are carried off and the impious are prospered,

3E com relação ao que disseste 'O homem não conhece o Teu julgamento' -

3And as regards what thou hast said 'Man knows not Thy judgement'--

4Por isso ouve, e falarei contigo, e ouve, e te farei ouvir as minhas palavras.

4On this account hear, and I will speak to thee, and hearken, and I will cause thee to hear My words.

5O homem não teria entendido corretamente o Meu julgamento, se não tivesse aceitado a lei e se o seu medo não estivesse enraizado na compreensão.

5Man would not rightly have understood My judgement, if he had not accepted the law, and if his fear had not been rooted in understanding.

6Mas agora, porque ele transgrediu embora soubesse, sim, por causa disso também, ele será atormentado porque sabia.

6But now, because he transgressed though he knew, yea, on account of this also, he shall be tormented because he knew.

7E no que diz respeito ao que disseste a respeito dos justos, que por causa deles este mundo veio, e mais ainda, até mesmo o que está por vir é por causa deles.

7And as regards what thou didst say touching the righteous, that on account of them has this world come, nay more, even that which is to come is on their account.

8Pois este mundo é para eles um problema e um cansaço com muito trabalho; e o que está por vir, uma coroa com grande glória.'

8For this world is to them a trouble and a weariness with much labour; and that accordingly which is to come, a crown with great glory.'
