2 Baruque 13

1E aconteceu depois destas coisas que eu, Baruque, estava no Monte Sião, e eis! uma voz veio do alto e me disse:

1And it came to pass after these things, that I, Baruch, was standing upon Mount Zion, and lo! a voice came from the height and said unto me:

2'Fique de pé, Baruque, e ouça a palavra do Deus poderoso.'

2'Stand upon thy feet, Baruch, and hear the word of the mighty God.'

3Porque você ficou surpreso com o que aconteceu a Sião, você será seguramente preservado até a consumação dos tempos, para que possa servir de testemunho.

3Because thou hast been astonied at what has befallen Zion, thou shalt therefore be assuredly preserved to the consummation of the times, that thou mayst be for a testimony.

4De modo que, se alguma vez aquelas cidades prósperas disserem: 'Por que o Deus poderoso trouxe sobre nós esta retribuição?'

4So that, if ever those prosperous cities say: 'Why hath the mighty God brought upon us this retribution?'

5Tu e aqueles como tu podem dizer àqueles (mesmo) a vós que viram: 'Este (mal) e estas retribuições que estão vindo sobre vós e sobre o vosso povo (são enviadas) no seu tempo para que as nações possam ser perfeitamente castigadas.

5Thou and those like thee may say to them (even) ye who have seen: 'This (evil) and these retributions which are coming upon you and upon your people (are sent) in its time that the nations may be perfectly chastened.

6E então eles vão esperar.

6And then they will expect.

7E se disserem naquela hora: Quando?

7And if they say at that time: When?

8Tu lhes dirás: 'Vós que bebestes o vinho coado, bebei também de seus restos, o julgamento do Altíssimo que não respeita as pessoas.'

8Thou wilt say to them: 'Ye who have drunk the strained wine, drink ye also of its dregs, the judgement of the Lofty One who has no respect of persons.'

9Por esse motivo, ele antes não teve misericórdia de Seus próprios filhos, mas os afligiu como Seus inimigos, porque eles pecaram.

9On this account he had before no mercy on His own sons, But afflicted them as His enemies, because they sinned.

10Eles foram, portanto, castigados para que pudessem receber misericórdia.

10They were therefore chastened then that they might receive mercy.

11Mas agora, vocês, povos e nações, vocês são devedores porque durante todo esse tempo vocês sempre pisaram na terra e usaram a criação injustamente.

11But now, ye peoples and nations, ye are debtors because all this time ye have always trodden down the earth, and used the creation unrighteously.

12Pois eu sempre beneficiei você, e sempre lhe foi negada a beneficência.

12For I have always benefited you, and ye have always been denied the beneficence."
