2 Baruque 11

1Além disso, eu, Baruque, digo isto contra ti, Babilônia: Se tu tivesses prosperado, e Sião tivesse habitado em sua glória, teria sido uma grande tristeza para nós que tu fosses igual a Sião.

1Moreover, I, Baruch, say this against thee, Babylon: If thou hadst prospered, And Zion had dwelt in her glory, it would have been a great grief to us that thou shouldst be equal to Zion.

2Mas agora, eis! a dor é infinita e a lamentação incomensurável, pois eis! você prosperou e Sião está desolada.

2But now, lo! the grief is infinite, and the lamentation measureless, for lo! thou art prospered and Zion desolate.

3Quem será o juiz sobre estas coisas? ou a quem nos queixaremos por causa do que nos aconteceu?

3Who will be judge regarding these things? or to whom shall we complain regarding that which has befallen us?

4Ó Senhor, como o suportaste? Nossos pais foram descansar sem tristeza e eis! os justos dormem na terra em tranquilidade;

4O Lord, how hast Thou borne (it)? Our fathers went to rest without grief and lo! the righteous sleep in the earth in tranquillity;

5Pois eles não conheciam esta angústia, nem ainda tinham ouvido falar do que nos havia acontecido.

5For they knew not this anguish, nor yet had they heard of that which had befallen us.

6Oxalá tivesses ouvidos, ó terra, e tivesses um coração, ó pó, para ires e anunciares no Sheol, e dizeres aos mortos:

6Would that thou hadst ears, O earth, nd that thou hadst a heart, O dust, that ye might go and announce in Sheol, and say to the dead,

7"Bem-aventurados sois mais do que nós que vivemos."

7"Blessed are ye more than we who are living."
