1 Tessalonicenses 5

1Mas, irmãos, acerca dos tempos e das estações, não necessitais de que se vos escreva;

1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2Porque vós mesmos sabeis muito bem que o dia do Senhor virá como o ladrão de noite;

2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

3Pois que, quando disserem: Há paz e segurança, então lhes sobrevirá repentina destruição, como as dores de parto àquela que está grávida, e de modo nenhum escaparão.

3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4Mas vós, irmãos, já não estais em trevas, para que aquele dia vos surpreenda como um ladrão;

4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5Porque todos vós sois filhos da luz e filhos do dia; nós não somos da noite nem das trevas.

5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6Não durmamos, pois, como os demais, mas vigiemos, e sejamos sóbrios;

6Therefore let us not sleep, as {do} others; but let us watch and be sober.

7Porque os que dormem, dormem de noite, e os que se embebedam, embebedam-se de noite.

7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

8Mas nós, que somos do dia, sejamos sóbrios, vestindo-nos da couraça da fé e do amor, e tendo por capacete a esperança da salvação;

8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

9Porque Deus não nos destinou para a ira, mas para a aquisição da salvação, por nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,

9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10Que morreu por nós, para que, quer vigiemos, quer durmamos, vivamos juntamente com ele.

10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11Por isso exortai-vos uns aos outros, e edificai-vos uns aos outros, como também o fazeis.

11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. {comfort: or, exhort}

12E rogamo-vos, irmãos, que reconheçais os que trabalham entre vós e que presidem sobre vós no Senhor, e vos admoestam;

12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

13E que os tenhais em grande estima e amor, por causa da sua obra. Tende paz entre vós.

13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. {And} be at peace among yourselves.

14Rogamo-vos, também, irmãos, que admoesteis os desordeiros, consoleis os de pouco ânimo, sustenteis os fracos, e sejais pacientes para com todos.

14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all {men}. {exhort: or, beseech} {unruly: or, disorderly}

15Vede que ninguém dê a outrem mal por mal, mas segui sempre o bem, tanto uns para com os outros, como para com todos.

15See that none render evil for evil unto any {man}; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all {men}.

16Regozijai-vos sempre.

16Rejoice evermore.

17Orai sem cessar.

17Pray without ceasing.

18Em tudo dai graças, porque esta é a vontade de Deus em Cristo Jesus para convosco.

18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

19Não extingais o Espírito.

19Quench not the Spirit.

20Não desprezeis as profecias.

20Despise not prophesyings.

21Examinai tudo. Retende o bem.

21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

22Abstende-vos de toda a aparência do mal.

22Abstain from all appearance of evil.

23E o mesmo Deus de paz vos santifique em tudo; e todo o vosso espírito, e alma, e corpo, sejam plenamente conservados irrepreensíveis para a vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.

23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and {I pray God} your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24Fiel é o que vos chama, o qual também o fará.

24Faithful {is} he that calleth you, who also will do {it}.

25Irmãos, orai por nós.

25Brethren, pray for us.

26Saudai a todos os irmãos com ósculo santo.

26Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.

27Pelo Senhor vos conjuro que esta epístola seja lida a todos os santos irmãos.

27I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren. {charge: or, adjure}

28A graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja convosco. Amém.
